Dear Prep families,
It goes without saying that this has been a week unlike any other.
Late this afternoon, after learning more about the impact of COVID-19 in our region, CIM decided to suspend all in-person teaching for the rest of the semester. This applies to preparatory activities at main campus and all branches, as well as to the conservatory.
We explored a range of options to preserve face-to-face lessons, classes, chamber music and ensembles, in the end, we needed to protect the health and safety of the entire community. While we honor, value and respect all the plans made (and then unmade), we want our students to have the opportunity to learn and grow and make musical progress, and the best way to provide that now is to practice social distancing.
As I said yesterday, faculty and students are encouraged to continue with their private lessons using online tools. Please coordinate lesson times and teaching platforms directly with your teacher.
I am sure that you will have many questions, but we will need a few days to gather more information before most of them can be answered. Since the CIM staff is now working primarily from home, please write to , and one of our team members will assist you.
Thank you for your continued flexibility, and I wish you the very best for the days ahead.
