COVID-19 Update:
MRC-DDS Members Should Work from Home
Union sibling,

After multiple phone calls with MRC Commissioner Wolf and her staff, she has agreed that although our members perform essential work, we do not provide immediate assistance to the Commonwealth.

Our main focus right now is to keep our members safe. The Commissioner agreed that our offices should be closed until the next steps can be put into place. Please work from home Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25th. See more from the Commissioner below.

This is a huge victory for our membership, and gives us the peace of mind to care for our clients and our families.

Stay healthy and well.

Subject: March 23rd- Executive Order

Dear DDS colleagues,

As you know, today, Governor Baker issued an Executive Order requiring all businesses and organizations that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential Services” to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers and the public as of Tuesday, March 24th at noon until Tuesday, April 7th at noon. Deputy Secretary Dan Tsai also sent an update to all EOHHS employees today.

As part of the response to the national health emergency for the coronavirus disease 2019 (“COVID-2019”), SSA has identified a temporary option for DDSs to transfer SSA equipment to remote locations, making it possible for state DDS employees to support the continued delivery of vital mission services in the present, unique circumstance.

MRC Leadership will be utilizing March 24th and 25th to plan the staging of this technology effort as well as assess the rotation schedule. You do not need to report to your office on March 24th and 25th, but work at home by completing the following work as described in the March 18th communication: relevant special projects, participating in on-line trainings, reviewing policy guidance and materials, participating in learning and activities to expand cross-program knowledge, etc. For time reporting, utilize the SKE code for the next two days.

MRC Leadership will work to develop a strategy for operations and will communicate to you by email on March 25th by 4PM. Please continue to monitor your emails. I know these are changing times, and I thank you for your efforts in supporting the residents of the Commonwealth.

Be well.
Commissioner Toni Wolf
