IDB Guidelines Extended to June 25
In her press conference today, Governor Kim Reynolds extended the proclamation regarding dental services to June 25. Per the proclamation, dental offices must meet the following guidelines to provide dental services:

  1. All dental services are provided in compliance with the Guidelines for the Safe Transition Back to Practice adopted by the Iowa Dental Board on May 5.
  2. The dentist has adequate inventories of personal protective equipment (PPE) and access to a reliable supply chain without relying on state or local PPE stockpiles to comply with the Guidance for Returning to Work During COVID-19.
  3. The dentist has a plan to conserve PPE consistent with guidance from the CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health.

The Iowa Dental Board retains authority to enforce the requirements established by this proclamation.
ADA Provides Guidance for PPE Billing and Coding
Earlier today the ADA released an updated version of its  COVID19 Coding and Billing Interim Guidance: PPE . This latest version includes information regarding payer programs and policies. Principal and Delta Dental of Iowa policies are included in the information. 
In Memoriam
We are saddened by the loss of IDA and Northwest District Dental Society member Dr. Wayne Barnes from Sioux City. Dr. Barnes passed away on Sunday, May 24. The funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 AM at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. There will not be a visitation.
