The Provincial Court of Alberta: Notice to the Law Society Regarding Lawyers in the Courthouses
Lawyer Referral Service Suspended Until March 31
As a result of the closure of Calgary Legal Guidance until April 30, the Lawyer Referral Service is currently suspended. However, prior to impacts of COVID-19, plans were in place to move the Lawyer Referral Service in-house to the Law Society. This change will take effect on March 31. We are grateful to Calgary Legal Guidance for providing telephone operation for this service for many years and connecting countless Albertans with lawyers along the way.

Our customer service team will assume operation of Lawyer Referral Service which will expand both the number of available staff and technology available to serve both Alberta’s lawyers and the public. Customer service staff will respond to inquiries via telephone (contact information remains the same), and new email and chat options are also being simultaneously implemented to improve both the speed and availability of service for Albertans.

We ask for the patience of both lawyers and the public as we make this transition under extraordinary circumstances. If you are presently signed up for Lawyer Referral Service, please take the time to ensure that your contact information and areas of practice are up-to-date by reviewing the Lawyer Portal or by contacting Customer Service.

Please note that we will not be accepting new lawyers for this service at this time, however stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
