Good Morning - 

We find ourselves in a critical situation as we enter the first days of the semester. While we started the year with all necessary precautions including arrival testing, the past few days have seen dramatic increases in case numbers, especially in our residential community. These changes require an immediate and bold response to help put us back on a course to finish the semester in person.

Please be sure that you have reviewed the update to our community from President Hatch, Provost Kersh, and Vice President Rue. As they noted “we must engage in protective measures that made it possible for us to stay on campus last semester. We know how to conduct a successful experience on campus, and we know you can do it. You’ve done it before”.

Below we highlight a few items of particular importance to our residential communities. 

Quarantine In Place

With increasing numbers of students moving into quarantine and isolation this week, the University will give priority for hotel spaces and on-campus isolation rooms for students who are either suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19.

Students who have been advised to quarantine due to possible exposure to COVID-19 will be quarantined in place. We will work with each student to evaluate individual circumstances. We may ask students to temporarily relocate in order to separate students who need to quarantine from students who do not.
 
Please note, students currently in quarantine at one of the hotels will not be allowed to leave quarantine and return to their residence halls to complete their quarantine.

Revised Guest Policy

As noted in the University update, “the only students allowed in a residence are the students who are assigned to that living space.” It is important that we limit the possible transmission across our various communities during this period.


Mask At All Times (Even Indoors)

Please remember to wear a mask at all times, even when indoors unless you are in your assigned bedroom. Masks should be worn in shared living spaces such as community lounges, suite/apartment living rooms, community laundry rooms, etc.

Work Orders

Students can still request work orders at this time.

Students can submit a work order by calling Customer Service at 336-758-4255 or online at workorders.wfu.edu. Emergencies that can cause damage to property or personal harm (flooding, broken glass, utility outage, etc.) should be called into University Police at 336-758-5911. 

For non-critical/emergency work orders that are not being resolved within 48-72 hours of the work order being submitted, or for repeat issues, please email housing@wfu.edu and share your concern with our staff. A member of our team will look into your concern and get back to you as soon as possible.
We thank you in advance for your compliance with these precautions and taking part in our collective efforts to get viral transmission back under control. We remain confident that doing so will allow us to achieve our shared goal, which is to remain in community together until May.
