Safer At Home, Not Stuck At Home

Today, in an unprecedented effort, many of Broward County's cities, including Wilton Manors, joined together to pass Emergency Orders with Safer-At-Home policies. The two overarching goals of Emergency Order 2020-003 are to one, further protect our residents, and two, better ensure we are doing all we can to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Emergency Order 2020-003, that will go into effect tonight at midnight, orders residents to remain at home and to refrain from engaging in nonessential activities. Additionally, it further defines guidelines for social distancing and public gatherings as well as cleaning protocols for essential businesses to follow.

Travel in Wilton Manors is restricted to visiting essential businesses only, including but not limited to grocery stores, pharmacies, healthcare providers, gas stations, and childcare facilities. Residents may also support restaurants offering drive-thru, delivery, and take-out services. T ravel and similar activities to obtain assistance from law enforcement, fire-rescue, or other emergency services are also exempt.

Please remember that when you are home you are safe. You are also doing your part to stop the virus from spreading, potentially to those who are considered most vulnerable and are at higher risk. Now is the time to be selfless. To put community above oneself. Together, and only together, can we escape the risk of losing more lives to this pandemic.
