Students,
Welcome back to campus! We hope you experienced an enjoyable and restful holiday break.
We were successful in our efforts to complete the 2020 Fall Semester, and we thank you for your diligence as we worked together to ensure the safety of our entire campus community. As we look forward to the start of the 2021 Spring Semester tomorrow, we will all need to once again tap into our reserves of perseverance, empathy, and resolve as COVID-19 continues to impact our state, our nation, and the world. Please continue to adhere to the procedures presented in the Fall 2020 Responsible Reopening Guide and the four personal safety practices detailed below. Our ability to continue to offer the campus experience that you desire – in-person education, residential life, campus engagement, athletics, etc. – depends in large measure on our ability to meet these expectations.

FOUR PERSONAL SAFETY PRACTICES
CONDUCT A DAILY HEALTH SELF-ASSESSMENT
You are responsible for monitoring your symptoms daily. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you should refrain from interacting with others, participate in academic and co-curricular events only virtually, stay away from campus or remain in your residential assignment, and seek appropriate medical assistance. Should you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, exercise caution and make an appointment with the Student Health Center by calling (330) 823-2692.

WEAR A FACE COVERING
When used properly, facial coverings can be effective for reducing the likelihood of transmitting COVID-19. Thus, in accordance with state mandates, you are required to wear a facial covering in all indoor shared and public environments on campus and when out and about in the Alliance and surrounding communities. A face covering should also be worn outdoors when you are unable to maintain a distance of six feet or more from those who are not members of your family or household.
MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING
When on the Mount Union campus, all community members are expected to maintain a physical distance of six feet. In addition, you must avoid hosting and attending mass gatherings. We understand that you may be interested in joining with friends for watch parties or other purposes as you return to campus this week. Please remember that gatherings of more than 10 people violate both state and campus protocols and put the safety of our campus community at serious risk.
MAINTAIN PERSONAL HYGIENE
The best way to prevent infection is to avoid exposure to the virus by committing to good hygiene practices, as recommended by the CDC. Wash hands with soap and water often and for at least 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or shirt sleeve, then throw tissue directly in the trash. Do not share personal items such as water bottles, etc.
As we continue to learn and live on campus, your unrelenting diligence will be paramount to our efforts to keep our community safe and well. Please take a few minutes to refamiliarize yourself with our Fall 2020 Responsible Reopening Guide. Check the site often, as it is subject to change as our knowledge of COVID-19 continues to evolve and new or revised guidelines are presented. We also encourage you to check the Confirmed Cases Reporting web page on the COVID-19 section of the Mount Union website regularly to access updated data regarding confirmed positive cases on campus.
