These last few days have been incredibly trying for everyone in our community.
Let me say how truly proud I am of our health care professionals who are on the front line during this pandemic. Your work is certainly commendable.
I want to encourage everyone in our town to support our health care community. The best thing we can do to help them is follow their advice. Wash your hands, keep a two-metre distance from each other, and stay at home if you feel unwell. You can find the Ontario Ministry of Health's COVID-19 self-assessment tool and additional helpful information
here.
I also want to commend all of our town staff for their hard work these last few days. While our facilities are closed to the public, I can assure you staff are hard at work ensuring essential municipal services continue. Your town council will continue to provide strong and steady leadership to ensure our staff and public stay safe.
Together, as a community, we will get through this situation. Staff and council are looking at ways we can offer additional support in the days and weeks ahead.
And please look for ways to support our local businesses. This is an incredibly difficult time for them. Consider take-out, buying a gift card, or purchasing a service in advance. Reach out and ask how you can help support them.
Also, on behalf of council, I extend a sincere thank you to everyone working to keep our stores stocked. This includes truck drivers, warehouse people, clerks, etc. Your efforts are very appreciated.
Finally, be kind to each other and look for ways to help friends, family, and neighbours. Our community is always stronger when we work together.
