Premier Ford's Announcement
COVID-19 Update

September 17, 2020
This afternoon, Premier Ford announced that effective midnight tonight, the gathering rules for the regions of Toronto, Peel and Ottawa will be changing for unmonitored social gatherings. You will note from the government announcement that facilities that have monitoring and protocols in place and recreational sporting events are not included in this change in legislation.
As we have all seen during COVID announcements, we are waiting on the exact wording of the legislation to confirm the exact details; which will likely be released tomorrow. We will also work with legal counsel to assist in interpreting any areas of the legislation that are unclear.
According to the Premier, this legislation was aimed at social gatherings due to a few large events that had no protocols in place. The intent is not to impact businesses like our clubs and schools who have set protocols in place and are observing the public recommendations as well as local laws such as masks and physical distancing. Please continue to be diligent in all of these areas.
We can continue our plans for final activities of the season and plan haul outs with COVID protocols in place. Ontario Sailing will continue to update our member clubs with any new information or changes to the legislation that impacts sailing in Ontario!
