CARES Act Makes Changes for
Retirement Plans
The CARES Act makes a variety of changes affecting retirement plans. These changes affect tax-qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k)
plans, 403(a) and 403(b) plans, and governmental 457(b) plans.

DOL Issues Corrections to FFCRA Regulations
On April 8, 2020, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released corrections to
regulations published under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The regulations, published April 6, 2020, clarify and explain the
employee leave provisions under the FFRCA’s Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (EFMLEA) and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA).

While the corrections mainly address minor drafting errors in the regulations,
some of the changes may impact employers’ implementation of the law.

Treasury Secretary Says More Funding Coming for Small Business
I n a press interview on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, Treasury Secretary Steven
Mnuchin said that small businesses don’t need to worry about not being able to receive funding from the U.S. government in the wake of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

He added that the White House is working with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to raise additional funding on top of the $350 billion provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) for small businesses across the country.
