Dear Morgan Hill Businesses:

The City of Morgan Hill and the Economic Development Team are deeply grateful for your efforts to shelter in place during these unprecedented times. We know how much this is affecting you and we recognize that the damage to some businesses is irreparable.

We also know how deeply you care about the safety and the livelihood of your employees. We have heard from many of you and know how hard you are trying to keep people on payroll and how you’ve changed your business practices to adhere to the safe distancing guidelines. What you are doing to keep everyone safe and employed to the extent possible is immensely appreciated.

The City of Morgan Hill is doing its part in managing this rapidly changing COVID-19 environment. City Hall offices have closed. Many City teammates are working from home, but we continue to provide essential services. What has not changed is our commitment to your health and safety during this public health crisis.

To help you navigate these very dynamic and uncertain times, we have developed a Business Resources web page with the most relevant and up-to-date information for employers and employees. We know that things are changing rapidly, sometimes multiple times a day. We are doing our best to identify the available resources at morganhill.ca.gov/covid194biz.

Additionally, in partnership with the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce and Visit Morgan Hill, we have deployed a business survey to better understand how COVID-19 is affecting your business and what are the ways that we can be of assistance. Please take a few minutes to complete the COVID-19 Impact Survey at business.morganhill.org/form/view/19485.

COVID-19 is challenging us in ways that we never imagined. But this too has reminded us of the interconnectedness and interdependence of all our lives and how we depend on each other to make it through such a crisis. We are also reminded of the kindness and humanity that is shining through with everyday examples of support and compassion. Finally, in a true Silicon Valley form, we are enjoying the creativity and innovation from our business community as they change business models and adapt to this new normal.

Recognizing that we are in this together and that more than ever we need each other, we are going to convene virtual Business Resiliency Roundtables. These meetings will be organized by industry and will feature a guest speaker that can offer insight on industry resources. You will also be able to hear from your peers and share what you are doing to thrive in this new world. Finally, if you want to help, we have identified some ways that you can get involved, either by donating your time and expertise or by donating money to organizations that are working to keep small businesses afloat.

The City of Morgan Hill has a small but dedicated team that is committed to continuing to serve you during this difficult time. Please complete the survey, visit our Resources page, and join us for the Business Resiliency Roundtables. Continue doing what you can to help others. We can all work together to keep each other safe!

Sincerely,

Edith Ramirez
