Volunteer Update

March 23, 2020
Dear Volunteers,

Today, Governor Inslee issued a “stay home, stay healthy" order for the state of Washington.

Because grocery stores are exempt from the order, Northwest Harvest, food banks, and other organizations that provide essential services are allowed to continue operations. This exemption also extends to our staff and volunteers.

We’re carrying on with volunteer activities as scheduled at all Northwest Harvest locations and have no plans to cancel any shifts at this time. As the number of food insecure in our state climbs as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, we’ll continue to need help packing high volumes food for emergency distribution.

Again, the safety and well-being of our volunteers is a top priority for Northwest Harvest. We understand that coming to volunteer is a personal decision. Please make choices that are best for you and your loved ones. If at any time you feel uncomfortable volunteering, you can cancel your shift. We understand and fully support your choice. We will be happy to reschedule with you in the future.

Volunteers are always the backbone of what we do, but especially now as we meet this unprecedented challenge. We’re deeply grateful for your time, your support, and your resolve.

Stay well,

Northwest Harvest
