Dear Camp Families,

After much study, prayer, and with heavy hearts, the Camp Wright Committee, in consultation with the Camp Director and Staff, has decided to suspend Camp Wright's normal camp operations for the 2020 Season. At the heart of this decision is love. We care too deeply for our campers, for our staff, for their families, and for Camp Wright's future to risk opening for normal camp operations this summer.

This decision was informed by leaders in the camp industry, recommendations from local and national authorities, and our board, which includes medical professionals, public health professionals, clergy, and others focused on youth development. We have closely followed information made available by the CDC and studied our Governor's plan for reopening Maryland. Social distancing restrictions, group size limits, and other regulations that will be implemented in the first phases of reopening will limit who and how we can serve and require us to change parts of our culture that are essential to the Camp Wright experience.

Truly loving requires making difficult decisions, and this one was heartbreaking. However, there is too much uncertainty, and too many unknowns to have summer camp as we have always known it. Know that each camp is different, and we firmly believe that suspending our summer programs is in the best interest of the health and safety of everyone in the Camp Wright community.

We believe that making a decision now is in the best interest of all. Our sincere hope is that this will allow camp families time to plan their summers for their children. The Camp Wright staff will now move forward in planning alternative programs and projects for 2020. We want to stay connected with you and your campers this summer, but it will take some time for us to figure out exactly what that is going to look like. Please look for updates on our website and social media platforms.

Camp Wright is committed to refunding all balances and deposits paid, however Camp Wright is not immune to the negative financial impacts of this pandemic. We are facing some serious financial challenges. If you are able to help, we would respectfully request you consider converting your deposit, or some portion of it, to a donation letting us know your preference by filling out this form .

More information about COVID-19 and Camp Wright is available on our website .

Thank you for the trust you have given us and for your constant support. Stay tuned for what is coming next for Camp Wright. We can't wait to see you all back on Kent Island as soon as it is safe and possible!

Peace,
