Dear Girard Families,

I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy as we continue to adapt to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our top priority remains the well-being of everyone in the Girard College community.

On Monday, Governor Wolf extended the stay-at-home order for Philadelphia County through April 30, 2020. Governor Wolf also decided that all Pennsylvania schools, including Girard College, will remain closed until further notice.

Girard College’s faculty will continue to provide meaningful academic instruction through virtual learning. Our teachers, students, and families have done an outstanding job implementing Virtual GC without missing a beat. Your involvement is crucial to maintaining this success.

As scheduled, Spring Break will begin on Friday, April 3, with virtual classes resuming on Tuesday, April 14. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Friday, April 17.

Campus will remain closed to all but essential personnel and residents. All buildings and living spaces were deep-cleaned and sanitized during the week of March 23.

A running list of Family Resources has been posted on the website, and our Counseling Team remains available to support you.

Let’s all do our part to slow the spread of the coronavirus by following CDC guidelines regarding handwashing and avoiding social gatherings.

We will keep you updated as things develop and hope to see everyone as soon as it is safe.

Be well, and Hail Girard!
Heather D. Wathington, Ph.D.
