March 19, 2020
This week, during his briefings with local government officials, Governor Pritzker called upon community leaders to increase their efforts to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In short, he was asking us to do more to limit the potential of person-to-person transmission of the virus. Therefore, effective Friday morning, we will be closing the Village Hall/Police Station to walk-in foot traffic. While the volume of foot traffic in Village Hall has been relatively light, I feel that this is one more step we can take as a community to protect our neighbors and staff from the spread of the virus.
This change does not mean we have closed shop. We remain available to you by phone as needed and building inspection services remain available. During this time, our team will continue to staff Village Hall and the Police Station weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., just as before. Emergency services are not impacted by the closure of the lobby and we remain fully staffed to respond to your calls.
Beginning on Friday, March 20
, the lobby doors of Village Hall will be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Residents may drop off payments and documents as needed in the vestibule and are encouraged to notify us by phone that they have done so. After 5:00 p.m., the inner lobby will open in order to provide access to the video kiosk for the police department. There will be no access to public restrooms for the duration of the enhanced protective measures.
Our primary purpose as a local government is to provide services to our residents. I can assure you that making the decision to limit the face-to-face way of serving you at Village Hall was not made lightly. However, I feel an obligation to take calculated measures designed to maintain a healthy team which is available to respond to your needs for the duration of this event.
Please – feel free to contact me if you have any particular need so that we can discuss how best to help.
