Dear Superintendents and School Leaders,
I'm writing to share updates on a number of COVID-19-related items.
Safe Reopening Plan Template
The County of San Diego
public health order
dictates that “Each school shall complete and post a document detailing the actions the school is taking to comply with the [California Department of Public Health] Industry Guidance measures after considering the [California Department of Education] Guidelines [for reopening].”
The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) has worked with public health to create a
template school reopening plan
that meets the requirement outlined in the order. Thank you to the superintendents who weighed in on an early draft; your feedback is reflected in the document to the extent feasible after discussions with public health.
We recommend districts and schools use this template, which is customized to consider school operations, however there is no requirement to do so.
If you have questions about the public health order, please contact County Education Sector Lead Katie Gordon at
or at 619-885-0528. If you have questions about the template, please contact SDCOE Duty Officer Bob Mueller at
