COVID-19 UPDATE 11
 
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) In Effect On April 1, 2020 In accordance with FFCRA, which was recently enacted by President Trump, employers are required to provide to their employees paid family sick and medical leave. The U.S. Department of Labor has issued an updated guidance document (March 28, 2020) to help employers comply with the Act.
 
The guidance document contains a “Fact Sheet for Employers”, a “Fact Sheet for Employees”, a “Field Assistance Bulletin” as well as a detailed “Question and Answers” sheet. The U.D. Pennsylvania To Restart Public Construction Activities.
Associated Pennsylvania Constructors (APC), ARTBA’s Pennsylvania chapter, has reported that certain public works projects in the Commonwealth will restart. PennDOT will restart 61 projects and the PA Turnpike Commission plans to restart four projects. APC indicates that a ll projects to be restarted will have to incorporate COVID19 safety standards. For any work activity addressing critical asset issues, strategies will be deployed that include cleanliness protocols for jobsites and offices, social distancing guidelines, procedures to address employee sickness, and the safe handling of material deliveries.
 
Preceding today’s announcement of the restart of PennDOT and PA Turnpike Commission projects, Pennsylvania eased restrictions for the delivery of concrete, aggregate and other construction related material supply activities.
