COVID-19 Update

Tuesday, March 17, 2020
Beloved,

Allow me to say how proud I am of the Diocese of Atlanta!
So many of you are bringing imagination, compassion and good cheer to this pandemic. I was heartened to see the variety of online worship and prayer opportunities that are already being offered across our Diocese. Still, after much consultation and prayer, and in light of the most recent update from the CDC, I have decided to direct every congregation to move all worship and meetings online effective immediately and until further notice.
Now is the time for us to use the gift of our tradition along side of new ways to practice being the body of Christ and to deepen our connections with one another and with the wider world.
To that end, links to resources for individual and family devotions can be found here
In all of this, I encourage you to be on high alert for the Spirit’s blessings in this disruption! The church cannot be cancelled, the church can only adapt! Press on, take care of one another, take care of yourself, God Is Trustworthy! “These present afflictions are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is being revealed in us.” - Romans 8:18

Blessings,
+Rob

Sunday & Thursday Services
Due to the Bishop's directive to suspend worship, our regular Sunday Eucharist and Thursday Healing Service will not be held until further notice . Please watch the above mentioned communications to learn about ways to continue worship on your own, and how to engage in virtual worship, together.
Wednesday Lenten Series
Our Wednesday Lenten Study will be suspended, but our reading of "The Gift of Years" will continue. If you registered as a member of this group, you will receive a separate instructional email today.
Thursday Bible Study
We will not meet for the coming Thursdays, tentatively resuming on Thursday, April 23, subject to change. We will recommence with the Pastoral Letters, starting with 1 Timothy. A separate email will be sent to registered members of the class today.
12 Step Programs & Al-Anon
We have traditionally given space and autonomy to our 3 twelve step & al-anon programs to do the healing work they provide to their attendees. In doing so, we participate in their healing work. We will continue to do so , encouraging safe practices to minimize virus transmission. There may be risk in their gathering. There is also a great risk in their not gathering. Pray for our friends in this anxious, testing time.
Feeding Hungry School Children
Since St. Paul's, through Freedom School, is recognized as a summer school feeding outpost, the Bibb County School System has asked us to allow them to be a school lunch drop off point while school is not in session . We will follow best practices for health and hygiene. The distribution should actually take place in our parking lot using labor provided by the school system. Please pray for these efforts and celebrate this small way God has invited us to help those in our own community.
