COVID-19 Update
Tabor Village Remembers
Tabor Village remembers all the men and women who served and fought for our country. We have a few brave veterans at Tabor Village, but one in particular celebrated his 100th birthday on Remembrance Day.

Mr. Dave Thiessen served in the Royal Canadian Artillery in WWII and November 11th just so happens to be his birthday. It is a great honour to care for our veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. From all of us at Tabor Village, we thank you Mr. Thiessen for your service and are truly honoured to be in your presence, supporting you in this stage of life. You are officially a centenarian, happy 100th birthday!

Dear Family and Friends of Tabor Village:

Update On Tabor Home Outbreak
As of Friday, November 13th, we regret to inform you that we have a total of 30 staff and 23 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. While this is a heartbreaking reality, we have implemented enhanced infection control measures, are continuing to work closely with Fraser Health, and will continue to fight against this virus until we are once again outbreak free.

The following safety measures have been put in place:
  • Staffing levels maintained to provide resident care.
  • Visitors restricted except for compassionate visits for residents receiving end of life care.
  • Staff and resident movement has been restricted to neighbourhood cohorts.
  • Cleaning high touch contact surfaces and enhancing infection control measures.
  • Communicating regularly with residents, families and staff on the outbreak status.
  • Twice a day active screening of symptoms with staff and residents.
  • Weekly testing of all staff and residents.
Working with Fraser Health, additional resources have been made available including clinical nurse educators, infection control experts, and access to emergency supplies and additional staff if needed.

Day of Prayer For Tabor Home - November 17
As we journey with our staff, residents, and their families through this outbreak, we know that God is with us. We appreciate all the words of encouragement and the knowledge that you continue to lift us up in prayer.

On Tuesday, November 17, we invite you to pray for Tabor Home staff, residents and their families, by participating in 24 hours of prayer. If you would like to join us by signing up for a prayer time, please email our Visitation Supervisor, Jackie Kingma at, or call at 604-859-8715 ext 621. We know there is power in prayer and appreciate your support to partner with us in this way.
Let Us Continue To Follow Safety Measures
It is imperative that we all do our part to follow the safety measures that we have incorporated into our daily routines:
  • Wash hands thoroughly.
  • Do not touch your face.
  • Maintain physical distancing by staying six feet apart.
  • Wear your mask, especially when on Tabor Village property.
  • Do not have anyone over to your home or go into someone else's home.
  • Avoid going to indoor places unless a safety plan is in place.
  • No large gatherings.
  • Connect with people in your household who you live with and support each other.

By following the above safety measures we will have the best chance of reducing the risk of contracting COVID-19 and slowing down the spread of the virus.

As you are aware, there are no visits permitted during an active outbreak, but as soon as this outbreak is declared over, we will be able to open up visits once again. Praying this is over soon.

To all Tabor Court and Valhaven families, as these residences are still COVID-19 FREE, visitations are continuing as usual. Please ensure you are following all safety measures when visiting and in your day to day life outside of Tabor to ensure we keep these residences COVID-19 FREE.

All visits can be booked with Jackie Kingma, Visitation Supervisor.

Recreation Update
Tabor Home Recreation Update
The activities may look a little different for Tabor Home while on active outbreak, but our Recreation team is working hard and using their creativity to continue Recreational Therapy in unique ways.
Now to December 7th
1.Give $50.
2.Personalize it.
3.Bless a senior.
We can't change restrictions, but we can certainly help make this Christmas a little extra special this year. Help us give all 262 residents at Tabor Village their own personalized stocking.

You cover the stocking, we do the shopping. It's that easy.

We are beyond THRILLED to announce that we have over 120 stockings already covered, which means we are just under half way! Counting down the days to when we can deliver these beautiful stockings to residents/tenants and bring some light into a difficult year. Thank you to all those who have donated and for joining us in our mission to shower the older adults of Tabor Village with an abundance of love and care this Christmas.
