COVID-19 Update
Dear Families and Friends of Tabor Village:

Celebrating National Grandparents Day

"A grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend.”
National Grandparents Day is this Sunday, September 13th and we've been celebrating all week long with outdoor concerts with DJ Ray and ice cool summer treats, with more celebrations to come. Caring for the older adults of Tabor Village is an honour and a privilege. These are the men and women who fought for our freedom and rights, who built our community and paved the way for us today.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to care for you loved ones.

We encourage all the grandkids out there to give your grandparent a call this weekend and let them know how loved and appreciated they are. If you are a grandparent yourself, to you we say THANK YOU.

Happy National Grandparents Day!
Visitation Survey: Tell Us How We're Doing!
Thank you to all those who have already completed this Visitation Review survey. You can see the latest up to date results at the link below.

For those of you who have not yet completed the survey, it takes only a matter of minutes and is greatly appreciated. Consider what your ideal visit would look like and let us know. We want to serve you and your loved ones better and we welcome your suggestions. Help us, help you. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Seniors Advocate BC Asking for Feedback
Not only are we wanting feedback for our own Tabor protocols and systems, but so is Seniors Advocate BC.

There is a visitors survey, a residents survey, and a general public survey, which means there are lots of opportunities for you to make your family's voices heard.

Visit the link below to take the survey from Seniors Advocate BC.
COVID-19 Management Committee Update
The Tabor Village Pandemic Management Committee has been working hard at updating policies and signage, going through checklists, and ensuring we are doing everything in our power to keep our Village a safe and welcoming place to live and work.

Leaders are regularly assessing our compliance with the pandemic audit tools including the following:
  • Access to and proper use of PPE
  • Hand sanitizer and hand washing
  • Physical distancing guidelines and signage
  • Reducing hallway clutter
  • Hair dresser restart plan
  • Care plan audits
  • Sterilization of reusable items
  • Corrective action taken since the last audit

The care and safety of both residents/tenants and staff is our highest priority and one we take very seriously. Please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know of any concerns of points of clarification needed.

Designated Visitors, thank you for continuing to do your part, abiding by the safety guidelines, and for your patience and understanding through the many changes and protocols that continue to come your way. We are so thankful for you.

Way to go Tabor family!
Dan Levitt: It is time to transform aged care

Before COVID-19, life inside aged care centres was pretty satisfying. A day filled with routines that made you feel good. Then in March, it all changed. Everyone, except employees, were banned from entering. Outbreaks started occurring, and...

Influenza Season Is Coming
With flue season quickly coming upon us, Tabor Village has set a goal of substantially improving the percentage of staff and seniors who are vaccinated this flue season.

To Designated Visitors, help us reduce the spread of infections by being extra cautious over these fall and winter months with your health. Please do not visit if you are experiencing any flue or other COVID-19 symptoms nor should you visit if you have been in contact with anyone who might have been exposed to COVID-19.

It is critical for all designated and essential visitors to do your part to stay healthy and abide by the safety guidelines, especially while we continue to fight against this pandemic. If we all work together, we will all get through this together. Thank you.
LAUNCHING OCTOBER 2020
Welcome to my life, the magazine about pursuing the life you love!

my life magazine is published by the Tabor Home Society. Over the years we've learned a few things about not letting anything, especially aging, slow us down or keep us from living a full, inspired life each and everyday. Most materials for seniors are aimed at helping with preparations for slowing down, where we think that retirement is just the beginning of a new adventure!
What Is This About You Ask?
my life is about exactly that: older adults taking charge of their own lives and living it to the fullest! We want to guide, inspire, and empower older adults to live healthy, full lives, no matter what age or stage they're at.

Articles include tips, advice, and professional guidance on topics such as my health, my finances, my home, my travel, my relationships, healthy recipes and more!

We are thrilled to be launching this exciting new venture in October of this year! Stay tuned for more info coming soon and be sure to keep an eye out for my life magazine around our city.
CALVIN DYCK LIVE!
Thanks to a very generous sponsor, Envision Financial, we are able to put on another virtual event for all of you.

Sunday, September 27th at 2pm, catch Calvin Dyck LIVE for some musical fun with the VIS Concertmaster himself. We'll have a professional videographer helping with the filming and livestream. All YOU need to do is grab your favourite snack and tune into our YouTube channel.

All proceeds will go towards our COVID-19 Relief Fund to help with the astronomical costs of PPE and other much-needed supplies that have drastically increased due to the pandemic. You have been so faithful and generous in helping us fill this need and this virtual event is just one more step in getting us across the finish line of the $100,000 goal.

Will You Take Up The Challenge?
Restrictions might be loosening around the province, but for healthcare workers, not much has changed. With the Province opening up, there is higher risk of spread, which means Personal Protective Equipment is more important than ever.

PPE is in extremely high demand and the prices are astronomical. We have roughly 260 residents Village wide, which means there are 260 families. If every family gave $220 today, we would reach the total $100,000 goal to cover these increasingly high expenses of necessary supplies.

Donations have been coming in with your $220, let's keep going strong until we reach our goal. Together, we will cross that finish line.

Will you take up the challenge and give $220 as a family?
