COVID-19 Update
Dear Families and Friends of Tabor Village:

It's been a strange year and a long few months that feels like years. We just want to say thank you! Thank you for your patience, grace, understanding, and flexibility. Thank you for your kindness and willingness to keep up with and follow the many ever-changing policies and protocols that we keep throwing at you. We have some truly amazing families here across Tabor Village and are very grateful for all of you for sticking with us through these challenging and often mentally exhausting times.

We know it has been a hard year for many and our hearts go out to all of you. Keep hanging in there as this too shall pass, in time.

Extreme Heat Policy and Safety Plan

As much as we love summer, the heat can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke, stress, irritation, dehydration, and can be dangerous, especially for the older adults we are caring for or those with pre-existing health conditions.

We recommend purchasing fans for your loved ones if you haven't already to ensure they stay cool. We have implemented our Heat Stress plan including the following:

  • Staff have been going around with drink carts, popsicles, and sometimes ice cream to keep the cool snacks coming.
  • Maintenance staff regularly check the temperature of our buildings to ensure they stay at reasonable levels.
  • Signs around the buildings to help staff be proactive with checking heat levels of residents/tenants.
  • Fans were installed to keep air circulating in common areas.
COVID-19 Cases Are Rising - Please Be Safe
Restrictions have loosened around the province, but there is still a pandemic and cases have been rising due to large gatherings of people and the lack of safety measures being followed.

We have a responsibility to ourselves, to staff and to our fellow families and residents to regularly practice all safety measures and guidance from Dr. Bonnie Henry. The only way we will ensure COVID-19 does NOT enter our buildings is by adhering to all Provincial Health safety guidelines and by doing it together.

We love seeing designated visitors coming in and the joy it brings to residents/tenants and would very much like to see this continue. If an outbreak were to occur however, visits would cease immediately and outbreak protocol would be implemented, as per the direction of Provincial Health.

With that said, please be safe out there and remember to practice the safety guidelines recommended by Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Safety Guidelines are as follows:
  • Avoid any and all large gatherings of people.
  • Keep social circles small (no more than 6 people).
  • Keep a minimum of 6 feet distance between yourself and others.
  • Do not touch your face.
  • Wash your hands often and for 30 seconds.
  • Sanitize purchased products as able.
  • Self-monitor for symptoms regularly.

Thank you for doing your part.
Visitation Survey: Tell Us How We're Doing!
Our key focus here at Tabor Village is providing 'Care from the Heart' for older adults and their families with Christian compassion and respect. In order to do this to the best of our ability, we need to hear from you!
We would very much appreciate hearing about your experiences and feelings towards visitation specifically. Below is a link to a brief survey on visitation with room for comments throughout. We appreciate your time in helping us improve and do better.
Visitations: Deliveries and Drop-Offs
If you are a Designated Visitor, you will have received our notice that no food or drink can be brought with the visitor to give to your loved one at the time of the visit, as per Fraser Health.

All deliveries will continue to follow our current policy of the 24-48 hour holding period and will be delivered by staff. No perishable items are permitted, only those that can sit for 24-48 hours.

If your loved one has a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion and you would like to celebrate with food, we are happy to provide a cupcake from our very own talented kitchen team for your loved one. If this is something you would like for your loved one, please put your request in to Vanessa Aparicio with a minimum of 3 days notice.
Thank You

"The best therapist has fur and four legs" - Disha Patani
We have some furry new friends at our Village!

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unfortunate impact on the mental health of seniors across Tabor Village.

Thanks to Abbotsford Community Foundation, we were able to purchase robotic pets for Complex Care and Assisted Living tenants and they are making a big difference already!

Animal therapy is a very real form of therapy that has tremendous positive impact on mental health and well-being.

Supported by the Government of Canada's Emergency Community Support Fund and Abbotsford Community Foundation, our days are brighter, smiles are bigger, and our mental health is better.
We Want To Hear From You
If you have questions or concerns, we are here for you to chat, to listen, and to ensure you feel cared for and heard. We want to hear from you and are always open to feedback and how we can continue to improve.
Yours sincerely,

Will You Take Up The Challenge?
Restrictions might be loosening around the province, but for healthcare workers, not much has changed. With the Province opening up, there is higher risk of spread, which means Personal Protective Equipment is more important than ever.
PPE is in extremely high demand and the prices are astronomical. We have now raised $45,000 of the $100,000 goal.
We have roughly 260 residents Village wide, which means there are 260 families. If every family gave $220 today, we would reach the total $100,000 goal to cover these increasingly high expenses of necessary supplies.

Donations have been coming in with your $220, let's keep going strong until we reach our goal. Together, we will cross that finish line.
Will you take up the challenge and give $220 as a family?
