Dear Family and Friends of Tabor Village:
As of November 10th at 4:00pm, we regret to inform you that we have a total of twenty-four staff and nineteen residents that have now tested positive for COVID-19 at Tabor Home. While we have completed testing for all staff and residents, we will be completing swab tests every week moving forward until we see all staff and residents test negative and no more cases arise.
This continued testing is in addition to the many other enhanced safety measures we have implemented in our fight to get back to being COVID-19 FREE.
What's Being Done
Enhanced control measures have been put in place at the site. We continue to work with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and the infection control safety measures have been enhanced to protect the health of all staff, residents and families.
The following has proactively been implemented at the site:
- Staffing levels will be maintained to provide resident care.
- Visitors are restricted throughout the facility.
- Staff and residents movement in the facility has been restricted.
- Cleaning and infection control measures have been enhanced.
- Residents, families and staff are being kept informed.
- Twice a day screening of all staff and residents.
- Weekly testing of all staff and residents.
During this time, the Tabor Village Outbreak Management Team and Fraser Health has additional onsite presence to take any further actions required and support the implementation of enhanced safety measures. This includes dedicated people to address quality, answer questions from staff, residents and family, and provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents.
We have been overwhelmed with the large number of you who have taken the time to reach out with your support and encouragement during this time. We just want to say thank you. So many of our staff have been working extra hard, extra long hours. This is a challenging time for all of us, yourselves included, and to have your support and prayers means a great deal to all of us.
A small glimpse of the support you have shown:
"Take care Tabor Team. You are my heart! Thinking of you all very much these days! Stay strong!"
-A grateful family member
"We are praying hard for the residents and staff that those who are sick with Covid would heal quickly and those who are well will remain well. My mom is one who has been confirmed to have the virus. I feel confident that she and all others will continue to have the best care. Tabor staff are very caring and dedicated. My heart goes out to them during this pandemic. Thanks for all the updates. Please, everyone stay safe."
-A grateful family
"...been praying over Psalm 91 continuously and asking God for a 'no fly zone for Covid over Tabor Home.'"
-A grateful sister
"I am grateful to work with such a dedicated and loving team."
-A grateful staff member
"We as a family want you to know that we are thinking and praying for you - all Of you. We can’t even begin to imagine how stressful this must be...
No matter the final tally of cases, or for that matter deaths we will do everything in our power to protect the reputation of Tabor home. We will fight for you all. We know how loved our dad has been, and how happy the staff make him. We know the extreme measures you have taken to try to prevent this outbreak.
Please know the [we are] praying and behind you 1000%!!
Thanks for all you do!
-A grateful family
We have shared all of these, and the many others, with the entire Tabor Home team and have started a prayer chain over Tabor Home. Thank you Tabor family for sticking with us, for supporting us, for choosing to see the positive in the midst of a very challenging season, and most of all, for your love, care, and gracious prayers. We are incredibly blessed and thankful for each and every one of you.
Keep praying, keep following the orders and safety guidelines of Dr. Bonnie Henry, get the flu vaccine, and make use of our website by sending letters, well wishes and photos to your loved ones (link below). We always make sure they get to the residents and will continue to make this a priority. If you would like to make a donation to our COVID-19 Relief Fund to help with the added expenses of PPE, you can do so on our COVID-19 Info website below.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me any time. We are here for you always.
