COVID-19 Update
Dear Family and Friends of Tabor Home:

Thank You Fraser Health
Since the beginning of the outbreak, Fraser Health has been supporting and offering guidance to Tabor Home.  An additional layer of support is being placed at Tabor Home by Fraser Health in the appointment of a pandemic response leader to provide oversight of the COVID-19 response at Tabor Home. Fraser Health has been working very closely with Tabor Home and this decision was made collaboratively to further support the Tabor Home leadership and staff. This added support at Tabor Home is consistent with other complex outbreaks at long term care sites.

Fraser Health continues to support staffing deficits with the deployment of additional nurses and care staff to ensure resident care needs continue to be met. Other enhanced control measures continue to be in place, including:
  • Visitors are restricted throughout the facility.
  • Staff and residents movement in the facility has been restricted.
  • Cleaning and infection control measures have been enhanced.
  • Residents, families and staff are being notified.
  • Twice a day screening of all staff and residents.

Tabor Village is very appreciative for the partnership with Fraser Health, implementing a comprehensive strategy to prevent and respond to COVID-19. In addition, Fraser Health has deployed care staff, rapid-response teams which include clinical nurse educators, infection prevention and control experts, screeners, and patient care quality officers supporting with communication to families and assessing symptoms at sites with outbreaks. Through these teams, sites are also connected with emergency supplies and support strategies around additional personnel as needed.

Townhall Meetings - Ask Us Anything
In an effort to further our transparency, openness, and continually improve upon our communication, we will be starting townhall meetings with all Tabor Home families during the outbreak. This is just one of many ways we are offering better communication to families during this very challenging time. These meetings will be lead by myself, Dan Levitt, via ZOOM (video conferencing) and will occur for each unit/neighbourhood (depending on the neighbourhood that your loved one lives on).

These townhall meetings will allow you to ask questions and express any concerns you may have. Please note that while we are always happy and available to address any questions regarding your loved one's health and well-being, we ask that you reach out privately at a different time to discuss these and/or on your weekly phone call with our dedicated team of callers where confidential discussion is able to take place about your specific loved one's health.

Communication
As you know we are making weekly phone calls to the primary contact of every Tabor Home resident. These calls are an opportunity to express your concerns, ask questions, and receive updates on your loved one's health and well-being. We have a dedicated team of four staff making these calls every week including:

Feel free to reach out to them anytime.

Thank You Tabor Court
You may have noticed some freshly baked scones at the front desk free for the taking. This is thanks to our friends next door who came by to drop them off and do a physically distant cheer for us. Enjoy the scones!
A Week of Thanks
Thank you to Debra Hauptman and the Langley Lodge team for reminding us, "Sometimes in our lives we all have pain. We all have sorrow. But if we are wise. We know that there's always tomorrow. You just call on me brother, when you need a hand. We all need somebody to lean on".

This moment of generosity and support…check out our Facebook page here.

Forever grateful to colleagues for their offer of support in so many ways, oxygen concentrators from Maplewood, pizza from Baptist Housing, a national prayer across Mennonite churches from MB Herald, gowns from New Vista, advocacy from BCCPA, and so many emails, texts, messages, likes, comments and shares.

While November may have been our darkest nights, knowing we are all in this together instilled the confidence needed to maintain hope for a brighter morning.

Encouragement
"Thank you for the exemplary courage, care, compassion and commitment that the staff at Tabor and so many other care centres have been and are demonstrating during these very hard times. Those of us on the outside and who are not providing care can become so out of touch with the hour by hour battle that are faced by care giver and receiver. We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers and members of our Abbotsford community. Is there anything that the community can do for you?"
-A Friend of Tabor Village

"Thank you for everything that you do. I know its been difficult but hang in there. We will all get through this together. You are our Heroes, our Warriors, our Protectors, and our Guardians. There is no one word that can sum it all up but know that you are appreciated. Thank you!"
-A Friend of Tabor Village

"They are exceptional in their care and genuine concern for the well-being of Tabor Home. We are so fortunate to have such an amazing force of strength through this."
