COVID-19 updates

The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency ended on May 11, 2023. Effective May 12, 2023, HMAA’s health plan benefits are as follows.

 

  • Medically necessary diagnostic testing is covered based on regular plan benefits. 
  • Tests which are not FDA-approved, and at-home over-the-counter (OTC) COVID tests, are not covered.
  • Medically necessary treatment and medication are covered based on regular plan benefits.
  • Vaccines recommended by the USPSTF or Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the CDC are covered at 100% when rendered by in-network participating providers. Other preventive treatment is covered in accordance with regular plan benefits.


For our other clients, coverage is based on the Plan’s inforce Description of Coverage or Summary Plan Description. 

The COVID-19 National Emergency ended on April 10, 2023. Therefore, the extension of certain employee benefit plan timelines will expire on June 10, 2023, and HMAA’s regular timelines will resume on June 11, 2023. The deadlines impacted are:



  • Deadline for a health plan to provide a COBRA election notice
  • Deadline to elect COBRA coverage and make COBRA premium payments
  • Deadline to elect HIPAA special enrollment
  • Deadlines to file claims, appeals, and requests for external review

HWMG Provider Online Portals

For members covered by Charter Communications or Hawaii Electricians Health & Welfare Fund, please access their eligibility and claims information using our online portal at https://hwmghealthplanportal.javelinaweb.com.

 

Medical claims processed prior to January 1, 2021 are not be available on the new system, but can be downloaded from our old portal until December 31, 2023.

HMAA members are not on the new system at this time. We will notify you in advance of that conversion date via our website at hwmg.org. Until then, please access HMAA member information at https://www.hmaaonline.com.

Credentialing/Recredentialing Tips

HWMG understands that the credentialing process can be challenging. Here are tips to help get your practice credentialed or recredentialed timely.

 

  • When you receive a credentialing request from HWMG or our vendor CAQH, please respond promptly to ensure your credentialing evidence does not expire. A Credentialing Application (or Recredentialing Verification Form) and Attestation should be signed within the 180 days before your credentialing due date.


  • If you renew your liability insurance, board certification status, or CSC/DEA certificate, please submit the supporting documents timely to prevent delays in the verification and review process.

Updates to Practitioner or Practice Info

Please keep HWMG updated with changes to your practice information. This includes billing and mailing addresses (especially suite numbers), phone numbers, and email addresses. If we do not have current information on file, there will be a delay in receiving updates and other important information from us.

If any information has changed, please submit a Provider Add, Delete or Change Form.
