Updated Quarantine Requirement

Due to increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has reinstated the 14 day quarantine for individuals who have had close contact with someone with COVID‑19. The Kent County Health Department is implementing this change, effective immediately.

If someone is currently in quarantine for ten days, they do not need to extend their quarantine to 14 days. The reinstatement to 14 days is for any close contact identified as of April 8, 2021.
Fraudulent COVID Vaccine Surveys

Michigan Attorney General is warning Michiganders who have received or plan to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to avoid a current vaccine survey scam that offers a reward for personal information. In the messages, people are prompted to participate in a fraudulent post-vaccine survey with the promise of cash or a prize upon completion. The bogus surveys are reportedly asking victims to pay for shipping and handling in order to receive a prize that is never delivered.

If you do receive a suspicious e-mail or text, remember to never click on any unsolicited links or attachments, and also remember that no legitimate surveys will ever ask for your credit card or bank account number to pay for a ‘free’ reward. Consumer complaints can be filed online at the Attorney General’s website, or by calling (877) 765-8388.
New Guidance for Cleaning Surfaces to Protect Against COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its guidance for cleaning and disinfecting facilities and homes to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The science has shown that people can get infected via contaminated surfaces, but the risk is low.

Regular cleaning of these surfaces with soap or detergent works. Disinfection is only recommended in indoor settings, schools and homes where there has been a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 24 hours. Surface transmission can also be reduced by wearing masks consistently and correctly in addition to proper handwashing.
