Vaccine Approved for Kids 5 to 11

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) granted emergency use authorization to the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and its partner BioNTech for children ages 5 to 11.

The Kent County Health Department (KCHD) is currently taking appointments for the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for this age group. In addition, extended clinic hours at all locations will be held on:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Appointments can be made for all three KCHD clinic locations during regular business hours by calling (616) 632-7200. Clients through age 15 must have parent/guardian present to receive vaccine. Clients aged 16-17 years may present with a note from parent/guardian but must be accompanied by a driver aged 18 years or older. Residents can also reach out to their primary care physician and local pharmacies for availability.

Booster Shots - Eligibility and Availability

The KCHD is taking appointments for booster shots at all three of its clinic locations. Clinic locations and hours can be found here and appointments can also be made by calling (616) 632-7200. Residents can also contact their primary care physician and local pharmacies for availability.

Who is eligible: The CDC recommends a booster shot of all three COVID-19 vaccines available in certain populations and for those in high-risk occupational and institutional settings. Click here for a full list of eligibility requirements.
Replacement COVID-19 Vaccination Record

Did you lose your COVID-19 vaccination card? To obtain your immunization record which will show your COVID-19 vaccine, contact your primary care provider.

If you do not have a primary care provider, you can submit your request along with a copy of your identification to the Health Department. The request can be sent via email or by fax at (616) 632-7083. You can also call the Health Department at (616) 326-0446 if you do not have access to e-mail or fax.

Please note: The Michigan Medical Records Access Act 47 of 2000 requires identification to be provided with each immunization record request.

Mobile Vaccine Locations

The KCHD provides easy access to FREE COVID-19 vaccines with our mobile health clinic! If you need a COVID-19 vaccine, find our mobile unit at the following locations:
