Israel's approach to the COVID-19 pandemic is to "flatten the curve". Nazareth Baptist School's campus is closed until April 22, 2020, or possibly later. Beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, students will be engaged in distant learning.

Effective immediately, all malls, hotels, cafes, restaurants and theaters will be shut down. Vital services such as pharmacies, groceries and banks will continue to operate. Travel as you know from US news is highly restricted.

FON has canceled all 2020 programs through August 2020. This includes the Mother's Day program team, the Renovation team and all summer program teams. NBS will not have a Mother's Day program due to the school closure. Some renovation efforts will be conducted by professionals and team projects will be postponed.

The summer programs are in flux. The MOE has not at this point given NBS guidance about the Bagrut (mandatory exams) or any class extensions to make up for lost time. With distant learning, FON and NBS hope that the school year will not be extended and that the exams will be held as scheduled.

FON/NBS/LBC are working together to alter the summer program schedule so that it can operate with a leaner staff and continue to offer the students a strong Evangelical summer program. Pray for the summer leaders, especially, Mimi, Ruba and Manal, as they adjust the plans.

FON's plans to financially support the students who will attend the summer programs are unchanged. In the unlikely event that the programs are canceled, FON will reserve these funds for 2021 summer programs.

Your prayers are invited and appreciated. Your donations are necessary to support the summer programs as well as ongoing actions to improve the safety, spiritual and academic environments at NBS.

As many of you know, Mike and I (Donna Chisam) are in Nazareth on behalf of FON. We are teaming with the NBS Board to set a strong strategic course for the future. At this time, we are in quarantine until March 24, 2020. We are fine and have no symptoms. We are managing well and staying busy leading FON from afar and working through video conferencing with the NBS team. Thank you for your prayers and concern.
