Our Response to COVID-19: Information
Globally
Good evening,

In two days, India will overtake the United Kingdom's temporary 4th global rank, which it acquired today when its updated tally exceeded infections in Spain. India's very aggressive viral spread will thus propel the country with the world's second largest population to its new undesirable position behind Russia. I am now including testing data, whenever it is available. The currently (incomplete) global data sets add up to 101,812,885 administered tests, from which we can extract a 7.18% positivity rate (positive tests divided by total tests). Please keep in mind that data from certain areas of the world are either missing (China, Algeria, Cameroon) or unreliable, and many countries with troubling flares (Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador) are severely under-testing.

An administration boosted by conservatives juggles religious freedoms and anti-pandemic measures. Several religious gatherings in Indonesia are believed to have played an outsize role in the spread of national COVID-19 clusters. This finding has created a headache for the administration of President Joko Widodo, which is talking up a New Normal to setto set the country back on track and is reluctant to...

Global Forecast
In the US
With 2,955 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today, California once again leads the nation with the most daily coronavirus cases, ahead of Texas (+1,894) and Florida (+1,096). The three states were the only ones that reported over 1,000 infections, which allowed the nation to report less than 20,000 cases again today, hopefully setting the downward trend we have been hoping to see for many weeks. Although the State of New York (+768) has added less cases today than it had since before the Shelter-In-Place order in mid March, the Empire State now has accumulated a staggering total of 400,660 infections since the start of the pandemic.
