September 2020
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day
September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day. Given everything that has happened this year, it's more important than ever to make mental health a priority. And there's no reason to suffer alone. Anyone can call 2-1-1 or 1-800-273-8255 for confidential support 24/7.
COVID-19 is Not the Only Public Health Crisis
President & CEO, Clara Reynolds
We all know that COVID-19 has taken center-stage as a public health crisis this year. However, COVID-19 has taken a toll not just on our physical health, but our emotional health as well. All of us - adults, the elderly, young adults, teens and young children - are feeling stress from physical distancing, isolation, increased anxiety about the future and financial insecurities created by the COVID-19 crisis. Taken together, we are all more vulnerable to behavioral health issues during this pandemic. This also means that suicide prevention is CRITICAL!

Reaching for a Lifeline
When Nate called the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, he was experiencing suicidal ideations. His girlfriend had recently broken up with him, and he had also ended his friendships with his college roommates. Between the two events, he was feeling completely alone and hopeless.

Supporting Suicide Prevention through Beer & Bow Ties
For the past five years, friends Kim Randall and Brent Kraus have hosted the Beer & Bow Ties fundraiser to raise awareness and support for suicide prevention. While COVID-19 interfered with this year's event, they didn't want the year to go by without doing something to support the cause. Instead, they are hosting a month-long fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds coming to the Crisis Center. Click the link below to make a donation and you'll also be entered to win a VIP ticket for next year's event on September 24, 2021.
