Oakwood Park: ribbon-cutting and Council meeting
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for June 11 at 6:30 p.m. for the newly renovated Oakwood Park in Blue Ash and immediately following the ceremony, the City Council Meeting will be held at the park’s new shelter.

The approximately $400,000 park improvement project, located at Oak Avenue and Idalia Avenue, includes a new community shelter and playground. The site also features an updated basketball court, new grills, new restroom facilities, and additional parking. Read more.
City Council to appoint Jill Cole to vacated seat
The Blue Ash City Council announces the upcoming appointment of Jill Cole to City Council, filling the vacancy left by Nikki Yasbeck-Schwieter.

Jill Cole will serve as Councilmember At-Large and will be officially appointed to the position on June 11, 2020.

Blue Ash Fire Department donates $150,000 in SCBA equipment to Great Oaks
The City of Blue Ash Fire Department has donated more than $150,000 in self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to Great Oaks for use in its adult Fire Academy and high school Firefighting/EMS programs.

“The Blue Ash Fire Department and Great Oaks have had a longstanding partnership. We routinely choose Great Oaks students when we have job openings,” said Blue Ash Fire Chief Chris Theders. “We are glad to make this donation, which will put modern equipment into the hands of future firefighters.” Read more.
Reopening dates for Recreation Center, pool, dog park and more
As previously announced, The City of Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the following opening dates for the 2020 season.

Opening dates:

  • 6/10   Recreation Center (limited services)
  • 6/10   Blue Ash Café (carry out only)
  • 6/15   Summit Park Group Fitness Classes
  • 6/30   Pool

The following amenities are currently open:

  • Sports Center
  • Dog Park at Summit Park
  • Parks
  • Blue Ash Golf Course
  • Summit Park restaurants (Nanny Belle’s, Brown Dog Café, Senate, Tahona)
  • Sandtrap Grill
  • Summit Park Great Lawn
  • Summit Park Farmers Market (Wednesdays)

Each of these amenities will continue to have social distancing and cleanliness guidelines for staff and visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Click here learn more and view the reopening plans.
Summer Concert Series update
The City of Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Department has announced the cancellation of concerts through the month of June.

This is due to a statewide health order that extends the closure of concert halls and other entertainment venues through July 1, 2020.

The cancellations include the Tuesday Night Concerts at the Blue Ash Nature Park on 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23 and 6/30, and the Friday Night Concerts at Blue Ash Towne Square on 6/5, 6/19, and 6/26. Read more.
Police Officers recognized for saving lives
A Blue Ash Police Officer is recognized for heroic life-saving measures for the second time in a month. 

Officer Ken Schrand administered Narcan to a person who had overdosed in separate incidents on April 24 and May 27. The action saved the lives of the individuals involved. He received the Blue Ash Police Department's “Life Saver Recognition” award on May 4 and on May 27.

The Blue Ash Police Department is also recognizing Officer Chady Chahine for saving a life with Narcan on May 6.

The “Life Saver Recognition” award recognizes officers who perform above and beyond the call of duty to promote the sanctity of life philosophy.

Catch up on COVID-19 news
The U.S. Census Bureau, in coordination with federal, state and local health officials, will begin to drop off 2020 Census questionnaire packets at front doors of households in Ohio in the week of June 1, according to a news release. This is done in areas where the majority of households do not receive mail at their physical address. The Census Bureau began hand-delivering census materials on March 15, but suspended all fieldwork for this operation on March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
