Food for children and youth
PUSD's Food & Nutrition Services program is now providing drive-through, pick-up of breakfast and lunch for any child under the age of 18. Food will be available for pickup (via car or walk-up) between 9 am and 11 am weekdays at the following schools:
Food is packaged
solely for the pick-up of meals and meals will not be consumed on site. We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed.
Volunteer Opportunity!
Food service is providing the meals and a few wonderful staff members, but we need help handing out food as families show up.
Pasadena Educational Foundation is organizing curbside volunteers and has
this really handy page for you to
sign up for a slot. We would like to have 5 – 6 volunteers per school site. We hope to use your time wisely, but this is uncharted territory. We ask all volunteers to be flexible as we figure out how to best to serve our school families. We more than tripled the amount of meals handed today from yesterday day at one site.
Volunteers are encouraged to consider signing up for a slot this Friday and days next week. Food will also be distributed during spring break, but signups are not yet available for those slots.
Home Delivery
If you know of any families that are unable to get to one of the seven sites to pick up food during the distribution time, please
let us know and we will see that meals are delivered. When emailing us, please put 'food delivery' in the subject line and in the email include as much of the following as possible.
- Number of meals (children under the age of 18 in household)
- Address where meals are to be delivered (include zip code if possible)
- Family name (optional)
- Contact phone number (optional)
We aim to deliver food between 8 am & 10 am and will be left on the doorstep after a single knock or doorbell ring. If you would like to help deliver food, please
let us know.
Help for Everyone
PACTL is open for support and assistance. They will have their bread pantry open on Monday, at 5:30pm to 6:30pm. They can provide emergency supermarket cards for families or pay utility bills and help with rent.

Useful Tools and Resources
|
|
The PHS Counseling Team and the school's Community Schools Initiative have developed a holistic resource guide for PUSD students and families. The guide has academic, socio-emotional, physical health and food access resources - some of which is more high school specific.
Please access it here, as it may be updated with additional resources.
It is translated into Spanish as well.

Childcare Coop Calculator
|
|
Schools have shut down, but childcare is still a collective social responsibility.
This
COVID Childcare Coop Calculator
lets SMALL, existing social groups, plan help for caregivers who simply cannot stay home with their kids. The CCCC is not a social network, you don't have to register or start an account, and they don't hold any of your data. What it does is allow a group to input their individual unavailabilities and a strong scheduling algorithm will give them the fairest possible month plan. This tool can also be used to schedule and divide any daily task among a group of people according to availability.

With so many community members looking for ways to help during this unprecedented event, we wanted to share these cards, created by the good folk at

, with you all. Hopefully, they'll make it a little easier for neighbors to reach out to other neighbors in need.

Libraries - a resource always, even when closed!
All of our area libraries are closed until further notice, but they are still a fantastic resource as
digital services remain available including e-books, audiobooks; streaming TV, movie and music services; classes and digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines; even Wi-Fi access in the parking lot
.
You can even get a temporary online library card to access these resources if you don’t already have one. Visit these library sites for more information.
*Pasadena librarians are available to provide assistance through telephone reference (626) 744-4066; or
the web-based service

Pasadena Community Foundation
The
PCF COVID-19 Response Fund
provides flexible resources to Pasadena-based organizations as they respond to the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus and quarantines. PCF has made an initial commitment of $100,000 to provide local relief, and donors may make charitable gifts to the fund that will benefit both urgent and long-term community needs. The Foundation has established the PCF COVID-19 Response Fund for maximum flexibility and responsiveness as the pandemic unfolds. Community foundations across the country have launched similar efforts to activate philanthropy in their local communities and provide much-needed financial support as conditions change in the coming weeks and months.
