COVID Protocols for the
Opening of the 2021-2022 School Year

Dear Members of the Sacred Heart School Community,

The safety of our school families is a shared commitment of the administration, faculty and staff of Sacred Heart. With the goal of providing your daughters with a safe and healthy learning environment, we have evaluated the best practices from last year and adapted them as needed for the current surge of COVID cases.

Additionally, Sacred Heart continues to monitor the recommendations, protocols and guidelines published by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDOH), Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) and the City of New Orleans. When school is in session, Sacred Heart will follow the recommendations of the LDOH and the LDOE. “In session” refers to anytime during the regular school day including PLUS, Afterschool Programs, and MASH. When school is not in session, Sacred Heart will follow current City of New Orleans guidelines.

For the opening of the 2021-2022 school year and in accordance with all applicable protocols, the following protocols will ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff:
  • Hand-washing and frequent cleaning
  • Wearing of masks (for adults and students in PreK – 12th grade while indoors)
  • Physical distancing and use of outdoor spaces
  • Strict adherence to our illness policy along with symptom monitoring and daily screening for Little Hearts
  • Contact tracing along with isolation quarantining

By opening the school year with these protocols (explained in more detail via the guidelines linked below) and partnering with our school families, we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Sacred Heart community, while also allowing our students to engage in the day-to-day experiences of school life. We will continue to regularly evaluate all procedures and policies and communicate any changes via ASH Flash and on our website.

Thank you for your partnership in promoting the health and safety of our school community.

Sincerely,
Micheline Dutil
Head of School
“Those who have to educate them to something higher must themselves have an idea of what they want; they must believe in the possibility of every mind and character to be lifted up to something better than it has already attained; they must themselves be striving for some higher excellence, and must believe and care deeply for the things they teach. For no one can be educated by maxim and precept; it is the life lived, and the things loved and the ideals believed in, by which we tell, one upon another....”                                                                                                                        ~Janet Erskine Stuart, RSCJ
