On May 20, 2021, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced in a live briefing that the public health emergency in Arkansas has ended effective May 30, 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Arkansas has been under a public health emergency since March 11, 2020. In an effort to help meet the increased needs of our providers, QualChoice Health Insurance implemented certain policies and procedures relating to the billing of telehealth services, authorization requirements, and more.
As the state’s management of the pandemic eases away from a state of emergency and into a maintenance effort, all QualChoice policies and procedures will revert to the state they were in prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. This change became effective on June 1, 2021.
Some items that are impacted by this change are as follows:
- Billing of telehealth services
- Physical, occupational, and speech therapy services
- Out-of-network benefits
- Authorization requirements
- Additional supplemental benefits
Note that this is not an all-inclusive list. Other items may be affected by this change as well. Please visit QualChoice.com for more information regarding our policies and procedures.
