COVID Update for 2021-22

NAIA Members,

As is always the case, summer has flown by and we find ourselves focusing on the start of the 2021-22 school year. As I type this message, the Delta variant continues to spread and while we are thankfully not in the same situation as last summer, this pandemic is clearly not over.

I want to reiterate that the national office does not plan to implement any COVID-related requirements or safety precautions pertaining to regular season play. It will be up to conferences and institutions to determine if any adjustments are necessary and if so, to manage those changes. As previously communicated, the screening process put in place last year will not be required in 2021-22.

As of today, we are still not planning to require COVID testing at NAIA national championships. However, as I’ve said many times in the last year, we cannot predict what the situation will be months from now. The national office is continuing to monitor various factors and will let you know as soon as possible if something changes.

As we ramp up to the fall season, I know members will continue to have questions and I encourage you to send them to [email protected].

Enjoy the rest of your summer and stay well.

All the best,

Jim Carr
