Some versions of Nutrafol contain Maca. Maca has estrogen-like activity that can stimulate the growth of estrogen sensitive breast cancers, uterine cancers, ovarian cancers as well as uterine fibroids and endometriosis.

Nutrafol also may contain Curcumin that can contribute to infertility and miscarriage. It may also cause iron deficiency, liver disease, and slowed blood clotting, and its use has been associated with gallbladder inflammation, prolonged bleeding, decreased blood sugar and gastroesophageal reflux.

Nutrafol may contain Ashwagandah which can lead to G.I. upset, miscarriage, diarrhea, vomiting, liver disease, decreased blood sugar, decreased blood pressure, G.I. ulcer and increased thyroid hormone levels. It may activate and/or exacerbate autoimmune disease.
