The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently determined that for three weeks it has allowed N95 style face masks from 65 of 80 approved manufacturers to be distributed despite the fact that they did not meet medical standards for protection against the coronavirus.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has posted assessments from the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) based upon a modified test procedure similar to one used in the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) approval process.
