New Podcast Series from Curt Pringle:
|
|
Our Founder, Curt Pringle, has decades of experience working in the public and private sector on some of the State’s most challenging projects. His experience not only comes from his business engagement, but also as a member of the California State Assembly, serving as Speaker of the Assembly, and Mayor of Anaheim. Curt Pringle has encountered many unique policy discussions throughout his time in his public and private service. Curt continues to face critical policy discussions through the work he leads at Curt Pringle and Associates.
CP&A’s new podcast series “Talking Issues” is a manifestation of that experience as Curt sits down with experts and discusses some of the important public policy issues facing our state and local communities.
Curt’s first few podcasts have included the following special guests: Major Nesan Kistan, Divisional Secretary of The Salvation Army of Orange County, Antonia Castro-Graham, CP&A’s Vice President and resident Energy expert, Laura Archuleta, President/CEO of Jamboree Housing, Michael Reynolds, Partner and criminal activist at The Law Offices of Snell & Wilmer, and Ryan Chamberlain, District Director for Caltrans.
This month we featured a discussion with Orange County Board of Supervisors Chair, Don Wagner.

Salvation Army Center of Hope
|
|
For the last two years, our Director of Operations, Katie Cawelti, has served as Chair of the Advisory Board for The Salvation Army Orange County. Over these years, there has been a lot of progress as it relates to serving the un-housed in Orange County through emergency housing through the Army’s low barrier shelter, family and supportive services, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
One of the newest ways in which the Army will be continuing to serve the un-housed is through their brand new permanent supportive housing apartments and Center for Applied Research and Innovation located at the Center of Hope campus on Lewis Street in Anaheim.
Recently, Katie led a hard hat tour with Anaheim City Manager, Jim Vanderpool, and The Salvation Army leadership team. During this tour, the team walked the nearly complete permanent supportive housing apartment building with the Army’s construction team and discussed the mission of CARI (the Center for Applied Research and Innovation). CARI is a solutions hub that cultivates enterprise-scale solutions to the defining social challenges of our day: ending chronic homelessness, eradicating social isolation, building healthy relationships to end community violence, ensuring long and productive lives, harnessing technology for social good, reducing extreme economic inequality, and creating positive responses to a changing environment. With the help and generous donation by the Samueli Family, this is just the beginning to all that is in store for The Center of Hope.

Every year, CP&A hosts an off-site retreat for our staff at the beginning of the year to set intentions, align goals, and help us bond as a team. This year we kept things local and hosted our retreat on February 16th and 17th at the JW Marriott in Anaheim and Zov’s Bistro in Tustin. We strategized about the year ahead and learned how we can better help one another, as well as our clients and the community. Of course, no retreat is complete without a yummy staff dinner. Our team is seen pictured here at Morton’s in Anaheim.

In December, HOPE Center Executive Director, Kellee Fritzal, and Fullerton Police Chief Bob Dunn met with CP&A to tour the new OC HOPE Center.
The HOPE Center was created as a hub for the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative. This particular collaborative started in 2017. It was originally a task force made up of six cities that were hopeful to bring a regional approach to their problems. The OC Register states, “State Senator Josh Newman brought in an initial $20 million in state funding to get the task force off the ground, and it grew to include most of the cities in the north part of the county.” With that seed money, the HOPE Center was established and has now become a facility that serves as a new command center for healthcare workers, CBOs, and local law enforcement to address homelessness collaboratively. The team and partners at the HOPE Center utilizes innovative technology to connect those experiencing street homelessness through a regional and community-wide coordination of multi-sector services and resources.
The HOPE Center had their official grand opening on October 27, 2022 where California State Senator Tom Umberg, State Representative Sharon Quirk-Silva, and Governor Gavin Newsom were in attendance.
HOPE Stands for Homeless Outreach and Proactive Engagement where their goal is “Right People, Right Resources, Right Now.”
