Scoring Notes

All score correction requests were reviewed. Frivolous requests were not processed.

  • Additional Penalties. In-depth analyses were done on scores. Additional penalties were found and entered on the public scoreboard.

  • Networking Quiz Correction. A question requesting three correct answers had four correct answers. Teams that entered any three correct answers received credit for the question.

  • No Team Number in Packet Tracer. 31 Cisco NetAcad Packet Tracer Exercises had no Team Number associated with them or a team email address from which a team number could be derived. Those teams will not receive a score. 49 teams failed grading for using a wrong version of Packet Tracer, submitting files from another round, or a non Packet Tracer File.

  • The TEAM NUMBER is the most important identification for a Packet Tracer file. Enter the Team Number in the packet tracer profile and everywhere a Name is requested. Do not use personal or team names.
  • Enter the team's email address (e.g., cpxvxv.net15xxxx@gmail.com), NOT the Coach's email address when requested.

  • Cisco Networking Quiz. The instructions stated that teams cannot revisit viewed questions.

  • Can't Stop Image. Teams that did not stop their images before the 6-hour point will not have penalties removed. Teams were instructed in the StartEx email to shut down the VMware player or shutdown or restart their host computer in case they cannot stop scoring. This was also mentioned in Round 1 Scoring Notes.

  • Feedback. If a score correction request was approved, the score was changed on the public scoreboard. If it was not approved, the score remained the same.

  • Overtime and multiple instances caused most penalties.

  • M's and T's with no score adjustments received no penalty

  • Stop Scoring Function. The Stop Scoring Button may malfunction. Remedial actions are written on the button and in the Download Instructions (e.g., Suspend image, shut down VMware Workstation Player, shut down host computer, etc.)

PENALTIES

  • Team Mix-Ups - 5 Points per incident
  • Multiple Instances -- 10 Points per Image
  • Overtime -- Loss of all points scored after 6 Hours + 10 Point penalty per overtime image
  • Opening Images before/after Competition Period with no scoring -- 5 Points
  • All other penalties -- 5 points each violation

Note: Semifinals penalties will be more severe.
