Worship with us every Sunday at 10 am.

All are welcome.

Dear CPC Family,

This Sunday after worship, we will gather for our annual congregational meeting -- a time to look back on the past year, look ahead to our plans for 2026, and give thanks together for it all. Last year, we celebrated new beginnings: with a new pastor, many new members, a sermon series on our beginnings in Genesis, and an initiative with the presbytery (Ezra 3) to discover new potential ministry partnerships in Post Falls. I feel like we are in a strong position, ready for growth and community engagement.

STRENGTH, in fact, is something we will be reflecting on in worship this week: strength in Christ, modeled AFTER Christ, which looks different from strength modeled in the world. When Christians talk about strength, we must think of the humility and servant mindset of Jesus. So I invite you in the coming days to think about the people who have had the biggest positive impact on your life. How did they model strength?

Grounded in Christ, we will move forward together through a world longing for light!

In faith, hope, and love,

Betsey

Sermon Series for the Season of Epiphany

January 11 – February 15, 2026

“The Light of the World”

In John’s gospel, Jesus says, “I am the Light of the world.” But in Matthew’s gospel, Jesus says to his disciples, “You are the Light of the world.” At the start of every calendar year, we celebrate the season of Epiphany, when God’s light, or revelation in Christ, breaks into our reality. How do we experience God’s light shining in and through us? And what does this light mean for the healing of God’s world? Let us begin the year together basking in the light!

February 1: God Chooses What is Weak in the World

1 Corinthians 1:18-31; Matthew 5:1-12

February 8: You are the Salt and the Light of the World Psalm

112:1-10; Matthew 5:13-20

Guest Preacher: Rev. Ted Mattie

February 15: An Out-of-This-World Experience

Psalm 99:1-9; Matthew 17:1-9

Guest Preacher: Rev. Katie Haney

This year, the annual report will be full-color and chock-full of photos of the ministries we shared in 2025. We have much to celebrate! Fellowship will follow our Annual Meeting THIS Sunday, February 1.

Family Promise will be at CPC Sunday Feb 1 at 5:30 pm until Sunday Feb 8 at 8:00 pm. We will be hosting a family of five, Mom, Dad, a preteen girl, four year old boy, and a toddler. We could use some help with making beds up after Fellowship this Sunday. Dinners are all covered.

We need some overnight hosts Sunday-Wednesday, but that would require a recent background check. Please see Mark Sipe and he can take care of that for next time if you are interested. The last opportunities are to pick up some lunch items from the list on the white board, and of course laundry after Sunday February 8.

Please contact Mark Sipe via email to help with Family Promise. (news@pfcpc.org)

"For Sutch a Time as This"

Meet Nadine Sutch, new Moderator of the Board of Deacons!

Where did you grow up?

In the “Old Town” of Mead, Washington, where there was one barbershop, one tavern, and one itsy-bitsy little grocery store.

What is your church background?

As a child, we did not attend church, but my mom did a lot of praying. As a 14-year-old, along with my older brother, I started attending a group called the Local Churches during the “Jesus Revolution.” We were hippie-types rebelling against denominationalism (traditional church). Over the next years, I spent time reading the Bible and the writings of saints, and eventually, I started coming to CPC in Post Falls, where I was baptized.

What drew you to CPC? And what keeps you at CPC?

I was drawn to a church that had a long history! I was brand-new. I had to learn all of the terminology. What keeps me? I love being the local church for the community. I like being in a place where the Bible is properly taught, the people are community-oriented (outwardly focused). It’s a community church, and it has resources to help the community!

What past experiences – work, family, or church-related – prepared you to be a deacon?

I’m not sure that I am prepared to be a deacon, but growing up in a house of 7 children, you are taught to consider others. Also, growing up in poverty makes me appreciate and know that not everyone in this country comes from a middle-class background. Being able to spend a lot of time studying the writings of other Christians and studying the Bible has given me a “God-view” of people.

What’s your favorite church potluck food?

Super 1 Pressure-cooked fried chicken!

Who inspires you?

If you’re looking in the right place, there are millions.  The list is gigantic.. I have to pick one? Pastor Betsey – I appreciate her honesty, her love of Christ and care of individuals.

I listen to the teachings of Alastair Begg, and C.S. Lewis. I love writings from all of these people.

What is your ideal Sunday afternoon?

This last Sunday was pretty ideal. Kiyoko is a big Seahawks fan, so I invited her over, made snacks, and enjoyed the game with a friend!

What is saving your life right now?

Knowing Jesus Christ and viewing everything from that perspective gives me peace. I don’t need to be anything but a child of God. I’m enjoying the people God puts in my life.

Thank you, Nadine, for stepping up to serve as our next Deacon Moderator. Nadine brings huge gifts of vision, organization, compassion, and hospitality. Nadine’s birthday is coming up next week – so wish her a happy birthday and thank her for serving the congregation!

Anything you can to do help is always appreciated. Please leave your donations in the narthex box. They will be delivered to the foodbank as soon as possible.
