Worship with us every Sunday at 10 am.

All are welcome.

Dear CPC Congregation,

As many of you know, music is a huge part of my family. My husband Eric plays trumpet in the Spokane Symphony, and all of us play instruments and love to sing!

Music is one of the reasons we love the church so much; there is no other public place where we get to sing our hearts out and have the creative and joyful experience of making music with other people -- on a weekly basis! Hearing God's Word in worship is central, to be sure. But participating in its proclamation through song -- a form that imprints it on our memories -- is transformative.

This Sunday, we celebrate MUSIC in worship. Our choir will sing, special instrumentalists will play, and all of our spirits will be united through this beautiful gift of God.

See you then!

You Wore Red!

Thanks to all of you Spirit-ed people who remembered to wear RED on Pentecost; the sanctuary has never been so saturated in one color! And many thanks to everyone who contributed food to our "On Fire for Jesus" potluck. It was a joyous Pentecost Sunday.

Announcing the Summer 2026 Sermon Series!

Summer is traditionally a time to step out of routine and give ourselves permission to wander and daydream. What better season to let our minds “wonder” about our big questions of faith?

When we look at how Jesus graciously handled curiosity and doubt, we can affirm that “Not All Who ‘Wonder’ Are Lost!”

In May, CPC Members wrote down and submitted their “wonderings” about the Bible and Christian faith, and in worship from June through August, we ALL get to ponder these questions. Stay each Sunday for the post-worship Q and R (Question and Response) time with the preacher!

June

7 – “Can I be a Christian if I Don’t Know the Bible?” 2 Timothy 3:10-17

14 – “Where are All the Young Adults?” Matthew 4:1-11 -George Fricks (U of I) Guest preacher

21- “Where Is God in All the Chaos?” Luke 8:22-25

28- “Why Did Jesus Have to Die?” Mark 15:25-41

July

5- “Do We Eat the Actual Body and Blood of Christ?” 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

12 – Community Service in Q’emiln (Pastor Dan Chance of Oasis Church – Preacher; CPC is leading the Music) Bring a lawn chair!

19 – Question TBA – Mindy Smith (Whitworth Office of Church Engagement) Guest preacher

26 – “Is Baptism Necessary for Salvation?” Romans 6:3-11

August

2 – “Is Jesus the Only Way?” John 10:11-16; 14:1-11

9 – “Do you become a Christian at one point in time or is it a process? – Rev. Ted Mattie preaching

16- “What Happens After We Die?” Rev. 21:1-7, Matthew 22:23-33

23- “What if I Have Doubts about the Resurrection?” 1 Corinthians 15:12-19

30- “What does it mean to be ‘Made in the Image of God’?” Genesis 1:26-31

Some of your questions didn't make it into the series. On August 30, the post-worship Q & R time will be extended to address as many of the omitted questions as we can get through!

Pick Up A Copy of The Fig Tree

The Fig Tree is a local non-profit newspaper with articles about faith in action in the Spokane-Post Falls-CDA area. Free copies of the Fig Tree are available to you in the Fellowship Hall! In the May 2026 issue, there is an extended article about Manoj Thirupal, husband of former CPC member the Rev. Katie (Waltar) Thirupal. The article talks about his background growing up in the Dalit caste in India and his journey to becoming a lecturer at Gonzaga University. Read the article here, and pick up your hard copy of The Fig Tree on Sunday!

What Kind of Animal is THAT??

The animal pictured above is called a "Capybara." A capybara is the world's largest rodent and can weigh up to 170 pounds! They are very friendly.
