Worship with us every Sunday at 10 am.

All are welcome.

Dear Congregation of CPC,

First of all, I want to thank you for your words of encouragement and celebration as the news was shared last week about my nomination to the installed pastor position. I am grateful and hopeful right along with you! I look forward to July 20, when you will have a special congregational meeting in which members will participate in the vote.

This Sunday, we welcome the Rev. Dick Avery to the pulpit to preach on Jeremiah 18 and the Sovereignty of God. It will be a message of hope and comfort in times of uncertainty. Dick is a well-loved preacher in the Inland Northwest Presbytery and served for many years as the senior pastor at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church. His preaching allows me to attend the Whitworth Ministry Summit this week, where I know I will be inspired and energized alongside other ministry leaders.

And finally, I wanted to send you all a Jesuit prayer that I found to be meaningful as I look at the world through the lens of my faith in Jesus Christ. As conflict in the Middle East upends the lives of countless people we cannot see, may we pray all the more:

God of mercy and compassion,

of grace and reconciliation,

pour your power upon all your children in the Middle East:

Jews, Muslims and Christians,

Palestinians and Israelis.

Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope,

oppression to freedom, occupation to liberation,

that violent encounters may be replaced by loving embraces,

and peace and justice could be experienced by all.

— Reverend Said

Grace and peace,

Betsey

Visit the "Share the Harvest" Table

Some of you have already been leaving gifts of extra produce and plant starters on a table in the Fellowship Hall, free to anyone who wants or needs it. We're going to make this table official and give it a name! The SHARE THE HARVEST Table will be a place throughout the summer and early fall where you may bring extra garden or orchard produce to share with others at CPC. Those without a garden will get to enjoy the fresh fruit and veggies, and those with overabundant gardens will get to share in a simple way. Come one, come all to the SHARE THE HARVEST Table to give and take freely!

We have 2 more spots available for the July 12 Spokane Indians game! First come, first served! Contact Tami Wills ASAP via text (509-475-3668) or via email wills_tamijason@comcast.net. Tickets are $25 each and can be paid via check, payable to CPC or cash with a note that it is for fellowship-Indians baseball. See you at the ballpark!

Please remember, there will not be a sanctuary service on July 13. See you at Q'emiln for worship!

Field Trip Fun at Big Red's Barn!

The Thursday women’s Bible study went on a field trip last week. We went to Big Red’s Barn in CDA. They have all kinds of animals (snakes, lizards, turtles, llama, pig, lambs, all kinds of birds, wallaby, miniature Zebu, etc.) that you can see, and some of which you can pet. Afterward, we enjoyed frozen yogurt.

Adult Bible Study Visits the Cataldo Mission

The Friday Bible study went on a field trip last week. We went to the Cataldo Mission in Cataldo, ID. It is called the House of the Great Spirit. It is the oldest standing building in the state of Idaho. It was built by Father Rivali and the Coeur d’Alene Indians on the Coeur d’Alene River in 1840. The ceiling was stained with huckleberries!

Bountiful Sunday Meals

Bountiful Sunday Meals, our free weekly community meal, is meeting needs in our community!! Feedback received from attendees has been so positive, thanking us for the “extras” we offer. Many have benefitted from the new T-shirts, socks and toiletries. Volunteers have seen the atmosphere in the room evolve in the six short months since beginning the ministry from individual attendees sitting alone at tables to animated conversations and camaraderie around shared meals! Come join in the fellowship and share your gift of service!

To volunteer, sign up in the Fellowship Hall or contact Julie Hoerner at sjgk4h@roadrunner.com.
