Dear CPC Family,
When I worked in Guatemala with a theological center, I saw their biggest impact to be empowering women to live into their God-given potential. Young women learned to say, "I am created in the image of God, just like my brother!" Knowing that we are created in the Imago Dei, the image of God, is a life-giving truth.
What does it mean that we bear God's image? That is the question for the week, and the final one we will "wonder" about in our summer sermon series. It's a good one! Do we look like God looks? Do we reason like God reasons? What does it mean that we are created in the image of God?
One possibility is that we do not bear God's image alone, but in community. I am grateful for the many ways each of you contributes to our community: making music, baking cookies, preparing meals, painting walls, offering a friendly handshake to visitors. Each person brings a unique gift and a unique reflection of God’s love. Together, those gifts create something beautiful.
May we continue to see God’s image in one another, and bear God's image to the world as we live, serve, and grow together.

Summer is traditionally a time to step out of routine and give ourselves permission to wander and daydream. What better season to let our minds “wonder” about our big questions of faith?
When we look at how Jesus graciously handled curiosity and doubt, we can affirm that “Not All Who ‘Wonder’ Are Lost!”
CPC Members wrote down and submitted their “wonderings” about the Bible and Christian faith, and in worship from June through August, we ALL get to ponder these questions. Stay each Sunday for the post-worship Q and R (Question and Response) time with the preacher!

NEW Fall Sermon Series Starts September 6!
“Behold!” is a word that appears throughout both the Old and New Testaments—a call to pause, pay attention, and recognize the presence and work of God. This fall in worship, we will behold God with awe and wonder: the God who created the cosmos, the natural world, and the astonishing creatures that inhabit it; the God whose handiwork can be glimpsed in the rich diversity of cultures around the world, in human ingenuity and compassion, in the changes and discoveries that come with age, and even in the ordinary moments of our everyday lives. Together, we will behold the many ways God’s presence and creativity surround us!

Building Prep Makes Way for Future Ministry!
Our building is undergoing some subtle and some not-so-subtle transformations to make room for future ministries and community partnerships. We are currently cleaning out the former Youth Room.
We are selling a number of like-new camp chairs, each for a $5 donation. The chairs will be against the far wall of the Fellowship Hall this Sunday. If you would like one or more chairs, please take them, and place your donation in the CHAIR DONATION envelope on the kitchen counter.

We now have a new space for CPC small groups and meetings. The first group to use it will be the "Breathe" Bible Study for Young Moms tomorrow. Praise God for new spaces and groups!

What does it mean to grow older with grace, purpose, and joy? Aging Grace-Fully is a two-part workshop exploring the spiritual opportunities and challenges of the third stage of life. Through engaging presentations, small-group conversations, and meaningful breaks for reflection and connection, we’ll explore Scripture’s vision of aging—including the gifts of limits, wisdom, and experience.
Come discover that aging isn’t simply about growing older—it can be an invitation to grow deeper, live more purposefully, and bless the generations around us.
The Workshop will be led by Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center staff Andrew Funka and George Gilchrist. A free will offering will be collected at the event, and a suggested donation of $15 per person will help to cover the Saturday lunch. Mark your pet's calendar for September 20 at 4 pm, CPC's first "Blessing of the Animals" service! If you have never been to a service like this, you might wonder what it's like. Blessing of the Animals services are becoming an annual tradition in many congregations. They are a way not only to "paws" for a moment to thank God for the important role our animal companions play in our lives, they are also a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to come check out CPC.
At our service, to be held on the west lawn, people will stand or sit with their pets (kept on leashes or in carriers). Those whose pets do not travel well or play nicely with others can bring a photo! We will share in a short liturgy, hear a reflection, and have a time of prayer thanking God for the joy our animals bring. Treats will be given, along with an invitation to join our Sunday services, and offerings of pet food or cash will be accepted for two local animal focused non-profits: TAILS Foundation and Coeur d'Alene Dog Fanciers.

Breathe!
Bible Study for Young Moms TOMORROW, August 28

Small Group Lounge
Do you know any young moms who would love to take time to BREATHE, study scripture, and connect with other women in a similar life stage? Let them know about the brand-new group forming at CPC led by Pastor Betsey. After the first meeting, we hope to offer free childcare in the CPC nursery.
If you would like to serve as a childcare volunteer/holder of babies, please contact Pastor Betsey! Brief training and a background check will be required.

Paint "Kindness Rocks" at the Hayden Library
What are Kindness Rocks, you wonder? "Painted stones with inspiring messages left in public spaces for strangers to find, aiming to brighten someone's day and spread positivity."
Join your hosts Lynn and Darryl for rock painting at the Hayden Library. Bring your rocks and your art supplies. We will also have some paints and inks on hand for you to use. This is a chance to join others in the Hayden community as we paint "Kindness Rocks" to hide throughout the Coeur d'Alene area. (or Post Falls!)
Please note: There are 3 opportunities for you to paint rocks at the library. These events are not put on by the library staff so they will not be advertising this. Please feel free to spread the word. All are welcome. Dates are:
