Worship with us every Sunday at 10 am.

All are welcome.

Greetings; May the Peace of Christ be with you!

I was asked to write a short opening for this week’s news while our pastor is away. Through Christ we are forgiven if we ask for forgiveness. Through the Holy Spirit we can are moved to forgive as we are forgiven. We have been created by the Father and believe that Father + Son + Holy Spirit are all limbs of one God. Do not let the world distract us from the basics of our faith. If you are not a member of Community Presbyterian Church, I encourage you to learn more and sign up for our new member’s class. These classes have been a real blessing to me. I hope you will find them a blessing as well. You can ask questions and learn more about the Church. We can get to know more about each other, encourage each other, and learn from each other. I have participated in three of these classes, including my own journey to join Community Presbyterian Church. After the classes you can decide whether to join us officially. We will meet on October 26 and November 2 after worship. Lunch will be provided. Each session is about 90 minutes. There is a green signup sheet in the Fellowship Hall. I put

my contact information on the signup sheet. Please contact me if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you in our next class series.

Early Fall Sermon Series Continues...

As Christians, we are to "pray without ceasing," and encouraged to come to God in prayer at any time, for any reason. But Jesus also gave his disciples a specific prayer to say -- which we now call, "The Lord's Prayer." How does saying the Lord's Prayer help us to live into our identity as God's children? What do we learn about God from each petition? We will explore these questions, focusing on passages from the gospel of Matthew, and practice different forms of prayer in our early fall sermon series, "When You are Praying."

Sept 7 – “Our Father, Who Art in Heaven” Matthew 1:18-25

Sept 14 – “Hallowed Be Thy Name” Matthew 7:21-23

Sept 21 – “Thy Kingdom Come” Matthew 13:44-53 - Rev. Ted Mattie preaching

Sept 28 – “Thy Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven” Matthew 7:24-28

Oct 5 – “Give Us This Day our Daily Bread” Matthew 6:25-34

Oct 12 – “Forgive us our Debts as We Forgive our Debtors” Matthew 18:21-35

Oct 19 – “Lead us Not Into Temptation, But Deliver Us from Evil” Matthew 4:1-11

Your Participation is Needed!

Our Ezra 3 Team would like to gain some baseline knowledge about how our members and regular attenders feel about being a church in our community. This online survey takes about TEN MINUTES to complete. Will you please take a moment right now to fill it out?

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GTZXJLD?church=2_Church%3APos

Completing the survey online is best. However, if you'd prefer, a paper survey are available in the narthex on Sunday. ALL completed surveys are due by 9/30. Thank you!

HELP CPC SHINE!

As the Ezra 3 project kicks off, one of the steps the design team will complete will be inviting leaders from various organizations in our community to tour our building!

Specifically, we will highlight our basement areas that are available for creatively thinking about sharing/partnering for increased use. You can probably imagine, and may also have seen, that the basement "storage room" has been storing "stuff" that has not been used for a DECADE.

The area is desperately in need of clean-up/ clean out!! With the encouragement of Session, the design team will be hosting a 'clean out and organize' afternoon after church on Oct 5.

We will be going through items and separating trash from usable give-away items.

Things we need for this project:

  • People to help with cleaning and organizing-bring your work clothes
  • Utility trailers and pick up trucks to take trash to the dump

***If you have stored anything in the basement, or would be interested in having any items from the basement storage room, please take it home now***

Thanks for your assistance in this project!!

"Belonging Gatherings" with Pastor Betsey

Welcoming homes needed for small gatherings please.

"As a way of building a sense of belonging for the church and for myself, I have a goal of gathering people in one-time small groups (with food!) over the course of the next six months to get to know each other. Host homes are needed for these gatherings, taking place on Friday evenings and Sunday late afternoons. Let me know if you'd like to offer your place!" - Pastor Betsey

Become a Member at CPC!

Upcoming New Member Classes October 26 and November 2, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, lunch provided. Reception in worship on November 9.

If you are a regular church attender, we would love to have you "make it official" and become a member at CPC. Members tend to feel more plugged in to church life, are able to vote at important congregational meetings, and can serve in every capacity of the church -- deacons, elders, and all committees. Here at CPC, our New Member Classes are FUN and relatively short; they are a great time to get to know a small group of people and interact with Pastor Betsey and a few of our elders. ALL are welcome to become members; sign up in the Fellowship Hall!

In Case of a Pastoral Emergency...

If a pastoral emergency comes up while Pastor Betsey is away away, our team of deacons and elders is ready to help. Call the church office at 208-773-2527, email our administrative assistant Jen Malcolm (jen@pfcpc.org), or get in touch with our Clerk of Session, Amy Verhaeghe (clerk@pfcpc.org). Thank you.

Visit the "Share the Harvest" Table

The SHARE THE HARVEST Table is a place throughout the summer and early fall where you may bring extra garden or orchard produce to share with others at CPC. Those without a garden will get to enjoy the fresh fruit and veggies, and those with overabundant gardens will get to share in a simple way. Come one, come all to the SHARE THE HARVEST Table to give and take freely!

Bountiful Sunday Meals, our free weekly community meal, continues to build up our community! Join in the fellowship and share your gift of service!

To volunteer, sign up in the Fellowship Hall or contact Julie Hoerner at sjgk4h@roadrunner.com.
