What's in Hannah's Cupboard?
|
|
In the Old Testament Hannah prayed for a child, after years of pain God answered her prayer and she bore a son. He was Samuel a prophet, priest and last Judge of Israel. Hannah's life illustrates that God does indeed hear and answer the prayers of those who come to Him in faith. Despite the traumas in the world around us, God is always there to help. As Hannah prayed in 1 Samuel 2:8 " He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor."
CPC believes in the Hannahs of our day; women who are pregnant and may be considering abortion or new moms needing material assistance in caring for their babies. Each of our four centers has a Hannah's Cupboard where moms can receive items essential to caring for their children--formula, diapers, wipes, layettes for newborns and clothing up to size 4T. These items are supplied by individuals, companies and churches donating new and gently used items.
Volunteers inventory and organize Hannah's Cupboard. It is a labor of love! As the pictures above illustrate we are blessed by our donors and are able to meet the needs of our moms.
We would love for you to visit one of our centers. Call 410-391-6699 to schedule a time at the center near you.

"Maryland Lutherans for Life" Visit St. Ann's
|
|
MD Lutherans for Life is a strong supporter of CPC. Pastor Roy Coats of
Lutheran Church of the Redeemer
in Baltimore brought a group of young seminarians to our St. Ann center. These first-year seminarians are attending Concordia Theological Seminary of Fort Wayne, IN, a seminary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
These young men were spending their Spring Break in Baltimore to experience the challenges of ministering to an urban population. After saying a prayer at our Howard St. location, they toured the St. Ann center on 22nd St. in Baltimore. Center Coordinator Joan Mattes showed them around and talked about the clients that visit the center and the services CPC provides.
The seminarians were accompanied by their instructor Rev. Dr. Don Wiley and Pastor Elliott Robertson of
Martini Lutheran Church
in Federal Hill. CPC appreciates their help and prayers!

Wayne Dickie, Board Chair of CPC, and coordinator of activities at Howard St. reports...
With weather delays behind us, the new roof is finally complete. In addition to keeping the premises dry, it also provides us with superior insulation. We are waiting for the architect, who is nearing completion of the detailed drawings to submit for a building permit. Plans will then be released to contractors for competitive bids.
Pray for Howard St.!!

Holy Innocents
Ministry to Families Who Have Lost Children to Miscarriage
|
|
Holy Innocents is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. They send a clergy member or volunteer to visit a family grieving after the loss of a child and provide support. Trained visitors offer prayer and materials for parents and siblings. The ministry can take into their care the remains of the child to be buried later at a memorial service.
The burial service helps in the grieving and healing process. A father said, "It seems like no one ever talks about miscarriage. It's part of the human experience. To have it not publicly recognized is a disservice to women and men." One mother shared, "It was a beautiful experience--very healing for the life of our child to be taken seriously. Even though our son was very tiny, we were expecting him."

Unplanned
is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation.
All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.
Until the day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby Johnson to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.
