Dear Friends,
The familiar verse from Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” This season has proven challenging in many ways. The pandemic has forced many additional, unexpected and often overwhelming changes. It can be easy to become discouraged. CPC is not immune from discouragement, but we continue to work in faith.
Sadly, we have had to close our St. Rita’s location in Dundalk. We have served clients in that area for many years and have a wonderful group of volunteers from the Dundalk community. There were longstanding issues with the facility that could not be repaired and our lease was not renewed. We are currently combining the Dundalk and Essex Center. It's a little tight but, as we redesign how services will be provided in the future, we will make it work!
We are still providing curbside assistance to clients weekly at all centers. To date, you have assisted over 175 individuals with much needed items supplied from our Amazon wish list. All of the clients are appreciative of your acts of kindness. Studies show that a crying baby is more likely to be a victim of abuse. Imagine being inside a stressful living situation with a wet, hungry, crying baby. Knowing they are able to feed their babies and keep them in dry diapers relieves stress on the whole family.
Additionally, we continue to serve abortion-vulnerable women with our sonography service. Last week, a mom who could not speak English was sent to us by a pro-life sidewalk advocate from outside of the Howard St. Planned Parenthood location. She came to our Essex Center and, with the help of an amazing volunteer who provided translation, was able she to see her baby on a sonogram. She was further along than she knew and has chosen life! We were also able to send her home with formula, diapers and supplies for her other child. Your support makes this ministry possible.
We miss being together with our staff and volunteers. We are thankful for your support during this season. We know God is faithful and has a purpose for this season. We still see His goodness through all of our challenges.
Best, Gina

Just so you know, the Stimulus Package Bill, recently signed into law, allows for additional charitable deductions.
Here's how it impacts individuals:
- Gifts up to $300 are now 100% deductible, whether you itemize or not.
- Deductions of gifts above $300 are raised to 100% of adjusted gross income for 2020.
Impact on corporations contributions:
- Giving is now increased from 10% to 25% of taxable income.

Meet cousins Donnie and Ella, the grandchildren of Center Coordinator Alice Steck. After a distressing Help-Line call, Alice reminded Donnie and Ella of how lucky they were to have lots of food when there are many families without jobs and with hungry children.
Donnie and Ella went into action. They used their social media skills to created a GoFundMe page. Their efforts generated over $1,000 in donations that they used to purchase Walmart gift cards to be distributed to non-profits in the community.
GREAT JOB, DONNIE AND ELLA!!
YOU ARE SUPERHEROES!!

Plano Coudon Construction
continues working at 328 N. Howard. On April 30th, project manager Dan Schwab shared the pictures above and reported,
"All the interior concrete is now complete, including the in-slab plumbing rough-ins. Today is steel erection, then wood floor framing, once the floor is complete, then we start the interior metal stud wall framing, and exterior demo of the façade."
Onsite meetings, with socially distancing of course, are being scheduled for the week of 5/18. Plans for placement of phones, computers and security will be reviewed. Look for more pictures in our next update.
Please pray for a smooth, uneventful construction process and a GRAND OPENING in the Summer of 2020.
Put Howard St. on every possible prayer list!!

The importance of online communication and interaction has never been more clear than today.
Serving clients remotely due to Covid-19, combined with the increase in availability of the abortion pill for self-managed abortions, makes our online visibility for outreach a priority. We need to be where women are, and right now women are online.
Work has begun to update our website. We will have a website for our supporters to keep all informed about our ministry. A separate website will be created only for our clients so that we can speak to them directly and respond to their needs--book appointments, live chats, educational information.
Discussions of these issues with supporters sparked two donations fully funding the website updates. We are very blessed to have supporters who continue to respond to the needs of our clients.
We are excited for you to join us in staying relevant and responsive to our changing world.
