Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. — Matthew 6:34

What will this day bring? That’s often the way I start my day. Yes, there are things on my calendar and my to-do list, but remaining open to the unscheduled people and the conversations they bring is such an important part of being in ministry.

How many times I have had the most meaningful conversations on the fly, when such a thing was not scheduled into my day! How many times I have had people apologize to me for “taking up my time,” not realizing the primary business I am called to be engaged in is the business of God’s people, simply because that’s who Jesus is.

Jesus always made time for people. He had conversations in unexpected places at unplanned times. He stayed longer than he expected to, and delayed his plans to travel through towns when there were people in need of healing and hope.

While leading a church is filled with all sorts of activities—from leading worship, planning meetings and agendas, to overseeing our building, committee work, and church finances—truly my role at CPC is filled with many tasks. But my primary role at CPC is to feed God’s sheep, who have been entrusted to my care, and I love the work I do (even when it keeps me from my to-do list!)

So, let’s not worry about tomorrow, for it will take care of itself. Rather, focus on being open to the people, places, and things of today that may not be on your to-do list. Stop to smell the roses and have the conversations. Make the time to truly “see” the people in your midst, because that is where “real” life happens and God is found.

Peace Islands Institute Iftar Dinner

Last Friday night was a precious expression of what we truly are… sharing a meal surrounded by the kind of love God calls each one of us to reflect in the world. The children played, laughed and ran together. The adults talked of things that matter. All grew in our connection to one another and made new friends. And God was smiling upon us all.

Donations for Ukraine

Last Thursday we completed our 24th dropoff to Hope for Ukraine. John Yochim generously volunteered his pickup for the journey. As you can see, there wasn't room for an additional box, cane or wheelchair.

As onerous as the situation is in Ukraine we must still remain steadfast in our commitment to supply what we can. We were assured that supplies will be shipped to those in need until an end to hostilities comes.

Thank you for your continuing support

Children, Youth and Families

March 28 - 30 at Johnsonburg Retreat Center 7 pm - 11 am

This spring, come join Johnsburg for a big, energetic youth retreat! We are welcoming youth grades 6-12 to come for a weekend of self-discovery, spritual growth and fellowship. This event is hosted for youth groups and space is limited, let Tracy know if you are interested.

Thank you to everyone for making our Soup and Salad Dinner such a wonderful event. As a result of your kindness, we collected over $400 to help Son Servants begin their road to recovery from this last devastating flood. We will know more about the damage and what the repairs would involve after a team goes to Panther, WV and can access the damage next week.

Children and Youth Sunday - March 23. Our children and youth will be leading our worship service this coming Sunday. They will be responsible for all aspects of our service and we hope you will make sure to come see how they are working to become leaders, not only in our church but in the church at large.

Upcoming events for Children at CPC

Spring UP

April 13 following coffee hour until 1:30, all children are invited with their parents to join us at the end of the parking lot closest to the woods. We will be planting some seeds to take home and care for as they grow for the spring. We also will be doing a little planting in our flower beds on the end of the building to brighten up that area. There will also be crafts, games and music. Come join us and bring some friends to enjoy the afternoon.

The Path to Easter

April 18 from 10:00 - 11:30. Children and their families are invited to come spend a little time to learn about Easter week and all the different things that happen leading up to Easter morning. Children will visit station by station to learn about the many important aspects of Easter Week using a tangible collection of items that help make the lessons hands on and memorable.

Fraud Watch: Your Identity - Staying Connected and Protected - next Monday.

As many ways as there are for fraudsters to poach your identity, there are also many simple steps you can take to help keep them at bay. This Zoom workshop, presented by CPC member, Patty Loud, helps review your ID protection checklist with simple steps you can start using today to protect your identity.

Presbytery Update

Centering Prayer in the Presbytery

Wednesdays at 8:30am

March 5 (Ash Wednesday) – April 16

In this busy season in the life of the church and in the world, we are reminded that Jesus took time to go apart for a while, and he would sometimes invite disciples to join him. And he invites us still. We will gather by Zoom to pray in silence. A brief introduction to Centering Prayer will be offered, followed by twenty minutes of silence (or as long as you can stay).
