"Is the Simple Life Just a Fantasy?"
Matthew 6:5-13 | Pastor Aaron McMillan | July 12, 2026
Who hasn't longed for the simple life - slower, more peaceful and maybe even more purposeful? And this is big business too... everywhere you look books, podcasts, apps offer us help finding a better simpler way of living. But what does Jesus say? How did Jesus see His life and how would He encourage us to understand our own lives? And where do we begin? Join us Sunday for week two of our current series, Faith on its Knees, and we'll talk about it together.

Guatemala Mission Trip: In a few days, several people from our church family will fly to Guatemala where they will come alongside the ministry of Iglesia Del Camino Missions to serve in the community. Building homes, delivering water filters and food is a joy for the team. And we will also help at Beeline Wheelchairs, which provides specialized wheelchairs for the Guatemalan children. Keep us in your prayers!! | CPC Security Team: As you know, our CPC Men’s Group has the lead in providing security for Sunday morning worship services and other special events. We are always looking for responsible adults who can periodically help in this very important effort. If you feel called to assist, please sign up here or contact Dave Arnold, our Security Coordinator, at 703-340-9389 or Davidrarnold1@aol.com. Click the button below to help out. | | Men's Shoes (and sock) Drive: Tomorrow, Sunday, July 12, is the last day to bring new or gently used men's shoes to the church for our team to take to Guatemala. These donations will be given to men experiencing homelessness through a local ministry in Antigua, where they will be a practical reminder of God's love and the generosity of our church family. We're also collecting new socks, which are always needed and greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. If you've been meaning to participate, tomorrow is your last opportunity to bring your donations. Every pair of shoes and every pair of socks will make a meaningful difference. | | |
Don't Miss Our Sizzlin' Summer Hot Dog Barbecue on July 12th!
TOMORROW!! Join us after the second service for a quick bite, a chance to catch up with friends, and an opportunity to make new connections. Need to head out? No problem! Grab a hot dog to go and take it with you as you make your way to the car. We know summer schedules can be busy, and even if you can't stay, we'd love for you to enjoy a snack on us before you go.

Volunteers Needed: Our church runs on people who faithfully serve behind the scenes—and we’re looking to add a few more to the team.
CPC is looking for volunteers to help support the day-to-day work of the church office. This role plays a big part in keeping things organized, communication clear, and everything running smoothly week to week.
If you (or someone you know) are organized, detail-oriented, and have a heart to serve, we’d love to connect.
| Join us for our annual Men’s BBQ & Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, August 8th from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Come hungry, come competitive, and come to get to know the other men of the church! As always, we could use some extra hands for setup, cleanup, grilling, bringing cornhole boards, and of course—officiating the intense bracket battles. If you've got the time, we've got a spot for you! | | Be Part of The Production Team: Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a great worship experience each Sunday? We're looking for camera operators to join our production team and help share worship with those in the room and those watching online. No experience is necessary—we'll provide all the training you need. If you can follow along with the service and enjoy working as part of a team, you can do this. Serving on the camera team is a fun, behind-the-scenes way to use your gifts, learn something new, and help people connect with worship each week. Interested or have questions? Contact Jerry or stop by and chat on Sunday. | | Care Fund: The Care Fund exists to provide help for our church family in time of need or distress. For example we have aided people with unexpected car repairs, medical or funeral expenses, and have helped with bills when they have unexpectedly lost their employment. These funds are provided by the generosity of our congregation. To contribute to this fund, simply designate your gift to the Care Fund or use this link for the Care Fund giving page. The current balance is $15,048. | |
