What's Coming in 2026
A small area planning process is already underway for Burnham Yard, the Denver Broncos' preferred site for a new stadium. Next year, city planners will continue working with the community in La Alma Lincoln Park and Baker neighborhoods to create a draft plan and bring it to City Council for adoption.
The Neighborhood Planning Initiative will wrap up the Southwest Area Plan early in the year and kick off the Near Northeast and Far Northwest area plans, bringing community-led policy-guidance to the neighborhoods of Cole, Clayton, Skyland, Northeast Park Hill, North Park Hill, Regis Berkeley, West Highland and Sloan's Lake.
Denver Resilient Landscapes, Unlocking Housing Choice and a "mini-bundle" of text amendments will update the Denver Zoning Code to address housing, climate and other city priorities.
In Landmark Preservation, planners will finalize and publish the American Indian and Indigenous Peoples Historic Context and mini-documentary, sharing the histories of these communities in Denver. The Landmark Preservation Commission will also finalize changes to the design guidelines for window and door replacement.
Planners, plan reviewers and inspectors will continue to work alongside the Denver Permitting Office and other partners across the city to improve review processes and foster a solutions mindset to deliver a permitting process that is efficient, consistent, and timely for our customers.
