As we look forward to the first signs of spring, our intervention research studies are actively advancing. CPH-NEW researchers are engaging educators and worker advocates in implementing new adaptions of our Healthy Workplace Participatory Program (HWPP), designed specifically to support Total Worker Health® approaches for improving worker well-being.
Our next Total Worker Health® Trends: Expert Webinar Series: "Evidence Informed Resources to Address Worker Stress and Trauma Among Correctional Workforce", is May 10, 2023 1 P.M. EST. Drs. Mazen El Ghaziri and Lisa Jaegars will share current and best practices and propose innovative solutions to reduce correctional staff trauma and organizational stress in U.S. jail and prison settings, based on the findings from a scoping review and national survey.
Congratulations to the Children's Farm Home of Trillium Family Services, in partnership with Liz Hill and Angie Wisher of SAIF, for their well deserved "Outstanding Safety/Health Wellness Team" award at the upcoming 2023 Oregon Governors Occupational Safety and Health Conference! In 2020, this dynamic group used the Healthy Workplace Participatory Program to address high staff turn over due to workplace injuries and burnout. Their organization has since implemented interventions such as, new training and onboarding programs, opportunities for professional development and re-evaluating employee benefits. The American Public Health Association (APHA) in conjunction with the Chicago Center for Health Work, have released a new policy supporting decent work for all. This policy statement provides a strategic umbrella of tactics for just, equitable, and healthy economic development of decent work and proposes research partnerships to develop, implement, measure, and evaluate decent work in the United States. Hybrid work is more than geography – it is an organizational change |

Hybrid work is already integral to working life and is considered the most prominent trend in the labor market (Eurofound, 2021). Whereas pre-pandemic research listed the pros and cons of telework, our international study shows that we can summarize the experienced advantages and disadvantages needed to optimize WFH and guide workplace decisions. These guides include three dimensions that relate to maximizing the advantages and three others that relate to minimizing the disadvantages of WFH (Ipsen et al., 2021). However, assessing hybrid work is more than maximizing and minimizing the advantages and disadvantages; it is also to understand that hybrid work adds to the complexity and management of work. Building Total Worker Health Leaders in Unions and Worker Organizations Train the Trainer program: This interactive training engages staff and members of unions and worker organizations in strengthening their facilitation skills, building collaborative relationships with management, and implementing TWH approaches in labor management health and safety committees. Congratulations Dr. Morocho
In January, CPH-NEW Research Assistant, Cesar Morocho, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in Biomedical Engineering. His research assessed engagement, fidelity and cost of participatory Total Worker Health programs. We wish him success as he begins a position with Citizens Bank as a Health and Safety Specialist.

At the March 2023 Construction Working Minds Summit, Dr. Roelofs will be presented with an applied research award for her contributions to mental health promotion in the construction workplace! Dr. Roelofs has created innovative and effective work on reducing opioid hazards in the workplace.
