Sascha Altman DuBrul Joins CPI Staff

CPI is pleased to announce that Sascha Altman DuBrul has joined the CPI staff as a Recovery Specialist and Trainer for OnTrackNY and the ACT Institute.

CPI is committed to working with behavioral health agencies to establish and support the role of the peer specialist.  Sascha is developing curricula to train a new generation of Peer Specialists for OnTrackNY and ACT, and engaging with larger questions about the role of those with lived experience in the evolution of the mental health system.

OnTrackNY is an innovative treatment program for adolescents and young adults who have recently experienced first episodes of psychosis. OnTrackNY helps people achieve their goals such as succeeding in school, getting a job, and building relationships. The program serves individuals who have nonaffective psychoses, who are age 16 to 30 and who are within one year of the onset of psychotic symptoms.  For more information about OnTrackNY, please click here.

The ACT Institute provides training, support, and consultation to Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) providers across New York State.  Our training curriculum is based on national evidence-based practice consortium standards and modifications to these standards as developed by the Office of Mental Health. For more information about the ACT Institute, please click here.

Sascha comes to CPI with decades of experience working both inside and outside of the mental health system.  Hospitalized multiple times in his teens and early 20s and given a diagnosis of serious mental illness, he co-founded The Icarus Project http://theicarusproject.net - a network of peer based medical health support groups and an education project for reshaping cultural conceptions of mental health and illness.

He is the author of Navigating the Space Between Brilliance and Madness and Maps to the Other Side: The Adventures of a Bipolar Cartographer.  You can learn more about Sascha's work at http://mapstotheotherside.net .

In recent years Sascha received his MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and worked as a clinician on a Parachute NYC Mobile Treatment Team with a mix of peer specialists and clinicians.

Please join us in welcoming Sascha Altman DuBrul to CPI.
